When booking a trip, you can either pay for it in full or reserve your spot with a 30% deposit. The remaining 70% of the trip price is to be paid 90 days prior to departure, at the latest.

Cancellations

After 48 hours, booking fees are non-refundable in all cases. You can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options:

  • If canceled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
  • If canceled 90 or more days before departure, a 70% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
  • If canceled within 89 days of departure, no refund will be issued.
  • Booking fees are non-refundable after a 48 hours grace period.
Flexible
  • If canceled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
  • If canceled 90 or more days before departure, a full refund of the total trip price will be issued.
  • If canceled 60-89 days before departure, a 50% refund of the total trip price will be issued.

    • We begin our journey with a transfer from Lisbon to the historic city of Coimbra. After checking in, we have time to settle into our hotel and explore the city at a relaxed pace. Coimbra’s rich academic and cultural heritage sets the tone for the days ahead, with its riverside setting, historic streets, and deep spiritual roots. The afternoon is ideal for a gentle orientation walk, enjoying nearby cafés or visiting landmarks close to the hotel before our first evening at leisure.

    • We leave Coimbra behind and ride into the peaceful countryside of central Portugal, following quiet roads through olive groves, villages, and rolling limestone hills. The route gradually leads us away from the Mondego River into more rural landscapes, with stops in Cernache and the Roman ruins of Conímbriga offering both cultural insight and rest along the way. As we approach the Serra de Sicó region, gentle but steady climbs bring rewarding views before descending into the welcoming town of Ansião, where we settle in for the night.

    • We ride onward through pine forests, rolling hills, and small villages that reflect the quiet authenticity of rural Portugal. The rhythm of the day is calm and reflective, with gentle climbs opening onto wide countryside views. As Ourém appears on the horizon, crowned by its medieval castle, the route grows more dramatic. The final ascent to the castle walls is steep but deeply rewarding, offering sweeping views across the valley below. Within the ancient fortifications, history surrounds us as we arrive at our hotel set inside the medieval walls.

    • Though shorter in distance, today’s ride carries great meaning. We depart Ourém and climb steadily through olive groves, pine forests, and quiet rural paths toward one of Portugal’s most important spiritual destinations. The ascent to the sanctuary plateau of Fátima unfolds gently, inviting moments of reflection before the landscape opens into the vast sanctuary grounds. Upon arrival, the atmosphere shifts noticeably, offering a sense of calm, purpose, and contemplation. We enjoy time to explore the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima and the surrounding town at our own pace.

    • After breakfast, we enjoy a final morning in Fátima with time for a short walk through the sanctuary area or a quiet coffee in town. A transfer takes us back to Lisbon, marking the end of a journey shaped by reflection, history, and the slow rhythm of the road. The experience lingers well beyond the final pedal stroke.

    • In order to join these Carmelita Route e-bike holidays, good fitness is required. You’ll be cycling on an e-bike up to 50 km (31 mi) per day, 3 days in a row. Check out day-by-day distances and elevation changes in the itinerary! Expect to ride a total of 120 km (74.5 mi) over 3 e-biking days. The tour is not too strenuous as you’ll be riding a high-quality e-bike, which will provide that extra push when needed.

      The routes around 65% off-road, with some singletracks, but these aren’t particularly difficult.

    • Group sizes and pricing

        • For this Coimbra to Fátima e-bike tour in Portugal, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 4:1.
        • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 8 participants.

      Min. age requirements

        • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the bike tour on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

    • The starting point of your Coimbra to Fátima e-bike tour is Coimbra. To get there, most people fly into Porto Airport. From there, you can take a shuttle service, public transport, or rent a car to reach Coimbra.

      Once you’re there, you will meet your guide at a predetermined time in a predetermined location. More information will be provided by the guides before the start of the trip.
