Meet your guide in central Queenstown at around 8 am and kick things off with a warm-up ride along the Arrow River Trail in historic Arrowtown, crossing five impressive bridges before reaching the Kawarau Bridge—where the brave (and slightly unhinged) are hurling themselves off on bungee cords. From there we load the bikes and drive to Aoraki/Mt Cook Village, the official start of the Alps to Ocean Cycle Trail. There’s time to visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre or the National Park visitor centre, and to stretch your legs on the Tasman Glacier Track for sweeping mountain views before our first group dinner.
