  • Unparalleled snow quality and superior backcountry access make Rogers Pass the perfect ski touring getaway. Based out of a mountain hut in the heart of Rogers Pass, you will go out every day and explore its varied terrain. Two ACMG guides will be joining you, so it will be possible to split into two groups, according to objectives and abilities. After full days on the incredible diamond dust powder, retreat back to your warm hut, where dinner will be served. Surround yourself with other backcountry skiing enthusiasts and explore one of the best touring areas in North America!

    • Meet your guide and your group at 7:30 am in Revelstoke. Sign your waivers and get organized. Once you’ve done that, drive up the highway to the Rogers Pass Area. • Rise and shine, you’ll want to use up full days here in the world-renowned Rogers Pass! Step onto the unlimited amount of soft snow, and let your ACMG guides show you the best spots. Though Rogers Pass is prone to avalanches, there is a Winter Permit System making sure that ski tourers don’t enter areas where avalanche control is planned—and this is exactly why you’re going with a guide, they will navigate this system for you.

        • Guide gratuities — optional
    • This 4-day Rogers Pass ski touring trip is ideal for anyone from intermediate to advanced skiers and splitboarders.

There will be two guides on the trip, so there can be two different groups tackling different objectives—or you can go out as a group with the option of different length days. Your guides will help you improve your skills and coach when things get a bit more difficult.

You’ll want to be reasonably fit and able to travel between 6 and 8 hours a day, and you also need to have some backcountry touring experience. No formal avalanche training is necessary, but it is an asset.

    • To participate in this tour, you need to have previous backcountry skiing experience.

If you’ve never backcountry skied before and are looking to try it out in British Columbia, we recommend a day of backcountry skiing in Duffey Lake, backcountry skiing in Whistler, or backcountry skiing in Revelstoke.

    • For technical backcountry ski touring gear, you will need to bring:

        • Alpine touring skis, telemark skis or splitboard with skins (can be rented)
        • Touring boots and poles (can be rented)
        • Avalanche safety equipment (can be rented):
          • Digital, 3-antenna avalanche transceiver or beacon
          • Lightweight snow shovel
          • Avalanche probe

For personal items, we recommend bringing:

        • 35-45L backpack
        • Helmet — optional
        • Sunglasses and goggles
        • Sun and lip cream
        • Toiletries
        • 1L of water or tea
        • First aid kit
        • Food you can eat on-the-go
        • Lunches
        • Thermos with a warm beverage — optional
        • Repair kit and Leatherman for your equipment (can be shared between several people)
        • Camera — optional, but recommended

This is what you’ll need for the Asulkan Hut:

        • Sleeping bag
        • Small pillow
        • Hut clothing & booties
        • Headlamp

This is a list of clothing we recommend you bring:

        • Gloves and hat
        • Wool and/or synthetic socks
        • Mid-insulation fleece or puffy jacket
        • Wind and waterproof shell jacket with hood (Gore-Tex recommended)
        • Warm outer puffy jacket
        • Ski pants (Gore-Tex recommended)
        • Down jacket or vest
        • Synthetic or wool base layers, underwear and socks
        • Face mask
        • Toque — wool or synthetic
        • Brimmed cap
        • Face warmer — scarf, neck tube, face mask, buff, etc.
        • Light gloves and insulated gloves or mitts
    • All mandatory gear can be rented if you don’t have your own. You can rent avalanche safety pack, including a backpack, beacon, shovel and probe with your guides in the booking process.

You can rent alpine touring or telemark skis (or splitboard) touring boots, and poles in Revelstoke with Powder Rentals or The Wax Bench. As an outdoor hub, there’s a multitude of rental shops in Revelstoke to choose from.

Rentals should be picked up the night prior to your outing. If you need to rent gear, let us know and we can help make arrangements.

    • You’ll stay in one of the best situated huts in the whole of North America. Staying there means supreme backcountry access, with the Asulkan Valley and the nearby offering spectacular skiing opportunities.

Built in the pan-abode style (meaning that the focus is on the wood adjusting to its environment and settling into its new shape), this hut is a beautiful timber-frame building with large north-facing windows. It sleeps 10 people, and the common area is cozy and spacious.

Foam mattresses, cooking, and eating utensils are provided, meaning that guests are expected to bring their own sleeping bags, food, and personal items. You’ll have a cooking stove, lightning, and heat, all of which are supplied by propane.

    • Group sizes and prices:

        • For this group adventure, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 4:1. There will be two ACMG guides on this trip and the maximum group size is 8.
        • The cost is per person and doesn’t decrease as the group grows.

Ski touring in Rogers Pass can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors may be permitted to join private tours on a case-by-case basis.

If your group has skiers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • To get to Revelstoke, the starting point of your Rogers Pass ski touring adventure, most people fly into Kelowna International Airport (YLW). From there, you can rent a car or take a shuttle service to Revelstoke. It will take you around 2.5 hours to reach Revelstoke. Another option is Calgary International Airport (YYC), though there is no shuttle service, so you’d have to rent a car and it would take you 4.5 hours.

Make sure to arrive in Revelstoke at least a day prior to the tour, as you’re meeting your guide and your group at 7:30 am.

Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, your guide will suggest the best place to meet, whether that’s at the guide shop or a predetermined location.

    • 57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.

We also expect clients to respect local regulations and take measures to protect themselves, their guides, and the communities they’re traveling to. For more information on COVID-19 measures in British Columbia, please refer to BC Centre for Disease Control COVID-19 advice.

Please contact us if you have any questions or require further information. We are happy to provide you with the most up-to-date information!
