We start our journey by boarding the Highland Bus from the BSI bus terminal, which takes us to the stunning glacier valley of Þórsmörk. Along the way, we pass the picturesque villages of Selfoss, Hella, and Hvolsvöllur. We’ll get off the bus at the Básar Hut, our base for the next three nights. After lunch, we set out on our first hike to Álfakirkja (the “church of elves”), a unique rock formation with a small cave beneath it, then continue either into the scenic Hvannárgil Valley or up Mt. Réttarfell. We return to the hut in time to prepare dinner.
