  • Urban-oriented hikers, look no further! This guided six-day adventure is the best way to discover one of the most impressive regions in Italy—the breathtaking coastline, villages, and hillsides of the Cinque Terre. Join a local guide and like-minded adventurers on a life-changing hike through scenic forests and vineyards, while basking in the spectacular views of the Mediterranean.

    • Start your Cinque Terre hiking tour in Riomaggiore. There you’ll meet your guide, who will show you your accommodation for the week. Spend the rest of the day discovering this picturesque village. Take a walk through the colorful streets, go for a swim in the azure sea, and soak up the local atmosphere. Wrap up the day with dinner provided in a local restaurant.

    • Start off the day with a boat ride to Porto Venere, a scenic village with an imposing fortress facing out to the sea. In case the boat ride is not possible, you’ll take a train or a bus. Go on a hillside walk to find more panoramic views of the coastline. Walk back to Riomaggiore and freely explore the village.

      Duration: 5 h
      Ascent: 600 m (1,970 ft)
      Boat fare: around $20

    • After a steep climb, take a panoramic walk through the famous terraced vineyards of Cinque Terre before reaching a lush forest. Pay a visit to a lonely menhir or the mountainside before taking the path down to Vernazza, another charming fishing village in Cinque Terre.

      Duration: 4.5 h
      Ascent: 750 m (2,460 ft)

    • Today you’ll get to take in the striking views over Vernazza and its towers before climbing up to the over 400 years old church in San Bernardino. Once you leave the shaded pine forest, follow a panoramic vineyard path overlooking the sea. From the village of Volastra, you’ll walk downhill through olive groves to reach Manarola, the second smallest village in Cinque Terre.

      Duration: 4.5 h
      Ascent: 700 m (2,296 ft)

    • Take the local train to start your hike from the village of Monterosso. Leaving the sandy beach behind you, hike along a steep path to the local chapel. The religious shrines of Cinque Terre are always set in gorgeous locations, and the ones above Monterosso and Vernazza are no exception.

      Duration: 5 h
      Ascent: 670 m (2,200 ft)

    • Wrap up your Cinque Terre hiking trip by visiting the last village in the area. The narrow streets of Levanto exude an air of Mediterranean charm and tranquility. A coastal path will lead you there from Monterosso. After an hour of hiking, you’ll come upon a beautiful overlook within the protected area of Punta Mesco. On the path to Levanto, take a break to rest and sample the local wine.

      Duration: 3.5h
      Ascent: 200 m (657 ft)

    • This is the end of your Cinque Terre hiking tour. After saying goodbye to Italy’s coastline paradise, your guide will transfer you to the airport in Pisa.

        • Unexpected transfers not planned in the program
        • Boat transfers

        • Drinks
        • Visits to particular tourist sites
        • Optional activities and personal expenses
        • Single room supplement
    • To fully participate you should be able to walk for up to 5 hours a day. Most days you’ll have a choice of mileage options, so you can decide how active you want to be—it’s always up to you. Keep in mind, the weather in summer can be very hot.

Be prepared to walk! These towns are pedestrian-friendly only. Not only are there virtually no options for assisted transportation, but the towns themselves are hilly, so it’s common to encounter stairs—sometimes very long ones. It is suggested that you undertake regular exercise two to three times a week for three months prior to your departure.

    • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

        • Day pack large enough to carry all the items listed (around a 25-40L bag)
        • Hiking poles — optional
        • Water bottle or hydration bladder (2L capacity)
        • Lightweight hiking boots or shoes
        • Spare clothes for layering
        • Waterproof rain jacket
        • Sunhat
        • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, toilet paper, etc.)
        • Headlamp or flashlight
        • Sunglasses
        • Camera — optional (but recommended)

Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans. You will stay in the same village for the whole week, so you only need to carry a daypack with you for the walks.

    • Group sizes and prices:

        • The group size for these group hiking adventures is 5–11 people with one guide.
        • Cost is per person and it doesn’t decrease as the group grows.

Hiking in Cinque Terre can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • Secure one of the dates for this year with a 30% deposit. The remaining amount is paid 3 months (90 days) prior to departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies.

Secure your spot for next year with a 10% deposit! This tour gets sold out very quickly, but with early-bird booking, you will be the first one to know about any new upcoming dates. Pick your preferred dates without risk of your bucket list adventure selling out!

      • Only 10% of the total amount should be paid as a deposit upon booking. This deposit is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another 57hours adventure any time in case the dates don’t suit you.
      • Once the dates for 2024 are set, you can confirm your booking by the end of this year by paying another 20% of the total amount.
      • The final balance is due 3 months (90 days) prior to departure.
      • Once the trip has been confirmed, the regular cancellation policy applies.

In case of cancellation on your part, the cancellation fee will be kept by your guiding service in the following manner:

      • More than 30 days before the departure: €200 per person for set-up fees.
      • Between 29 and 16 days before the departure: 50% of the full price of your holiday.
      • Between 15 and 2 days before the departure: 90% of the full price of your holiday.
      • Less than 2 days before the departure: 100% of the full price of your holiday.

      Keep in mind that:

      • The interruption of a holiday by a participant cannot give rise to a refund
      • If you can find a suitable and willing replacement more than 30 days before the departure, you will only be charged the €200 per person for set-up fee
      • With less than 30 days before departure, any modification of your holiday will be regarded as a cancellation.

In case of cancellation by the guide due to the minimum number of participants not being reached, or as a result of conditions questioning the safety of the participants, or for a case of absolute necessity at least 21 days before the departure, you will be proposed, in the majority of the cases at least, a formula for replacement. If this formula is not convenient for you, you will be entirely refunded.

    • To get to Riomaggiore, most people fly into Pisa International Airport. From there, you can rent a car or take a train or shuttle to Riomaggiore which is just over an hour away.

Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, your guide will suggest the best place to meet, whether that’s at the guide shop or a predetermined location. The guide will choose the appropriate terrain dependent on conditions and the ability of the group.

    • 57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.

We also expect clients to respect local regulations and take measures to protect themselves, their guides, and the communities they’re traveling to. For more information on COVID-19 measures in Cinque Terre and Tuscany, Italy, please refer to Italy’s Ministry of Health Website and the Italian National Tourist Board Website.

Please contact us if you have any questions or require further information. We are happy to provide you with the most up-to-date information!
