  • Spend one week around Christmas or New Year in La Gomera. Experience magical forests and otherworldly volcanic rock formations, visit authentic Gomeran towns, go whale watching on Christmas or New Year days, and meet an amazing group of like-minded women! You’ll stay in a hotel featuring pools, a spa, tennis courts, golf courses—and offering free activities like painting and wine tasting. Savor locally sourced specialties like palm honey and Malvasia wine, experience some top-notch hiking in gorgeous landscapes, and get totally revived and nourished by the warmth and sea air. 

    • This itinerary is just a loose sketch of your stay in La Gomera, which is subject to change. You’ll receive a more comprehensive overview  of the retreat before the trip which will include more information, including detailed descriptions of daily tours.

    • Arrive at the Tenerife South Airport by 2 pm and get transferred to La Gomera, including a scenic 1-hour ferry ride. Get settled into your hotel room and get to know fellow venturesome women and your guide over buffet dinner!

    • After hearty buffet breakfasts (in a restaurant with views of the ocean), you’ll head for a hike. Your guided hiking tours will start at 9.30 and you will always have the option to go for longer hikes or shorten your walking if you want to have some more time to relax. Every day, your group will explore a different area of the island, mostly within the Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. You will also visit various nearby towns and the island’s capital of San Sebastián de La Gomera. After hikes, return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day according to your interests before enjoying your dinner.

    • Day 4 of the tour are Christmas or New Year’s days, depending on the dates you choose. Apart from other festive activities you’ll be doing, your group will also go whale watching, which presents one of the highlights of the tour! After a day filled with excitement, enjoy dinner and get well rested for tomorrow.

    • Today you get a chance to explore La Gomera on your own! You can explore the village where your hotel is situated, spend some time in the spa, or on the beach (and swim in the ocean!), play tennis or golf, join some of the free activities offered by your hotel like painting, wine tasting, or taking a tour of their eco park.

    • Spend another two days hiking among the magnificent landscapes of La Gomera. Get enchanted by the natural beauty of the island—rugged coastline and crushing waves, evergreen forests, and valleys speckled with palm trees, so many gorgeous geological formations and quaint towns and villages. Spend the afternoons according to your interests and celebrate your achievements with other adventurous women—tomorrow marks the end of your La Gomera deluxe hiking trip.

    • Your guided adventure in La Gomera has come to an end. You will depart for your airport after breakfast. Say goodbye to your guide, fellow hikers and to the Canaries—or continue touring on your own.

    • This La Gomera deluxe hiking trip is suitable for anyone who can walk for 4 to 6 hours with numerous breaks. Daily ascents will always be steady and no greater than 1,970 ft (600 m). Keep in mind that the weather can get quite warm even in December and January and you’ll also be packing a daypack filled with water and other things you’ll need throughout the day. Your guide will always be by your side to assist you with anything and change the route if hiking gets too strenuous.

    • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

        • Day pack large enough to carry all the items you would need in a day (around a 25-40L bag)
        • Hiking poles — optional
        • Water bottle or hydration bladder (2L capacity)
        • Lightweight hiking boots or shoes
        • Spare clothes for layering
        • Spare casual clothes for when you’re not hiking
        • Waterproof rain jacket
        • Sunhat
        • Bathing suit
        • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, etc.)
        • Sunglasses
        • Camera — optional (but recommended)

      Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

    • You’ll stay in single occupancy ensuite rooms of a 4-star Hotel Jardin Tecina in Playa Santiago.

      Apart from comfortable rooms, your hotel features tennis courts and golf courses, 5 swimming pools, a spa, and an eco garden. It also offers various free activities, like wine tasting, painting, and stargazing evenings to learn about the night sky over the Canaries.

      If you are coming with your friend or a partner and want to share a room with them, the price per person decreases. You can ensure that you get a room with extensive, unimpeded views of the ocean by paying an additional fee.

      You can expect buffet breakfasts and dinners with a wide choice of local, vegetarian, fish and meat options—in a restaurant overlooking the ocean! 

    • Group sizes and prices:

        • For these group adventures, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 12:1. 
        • The cost does not decrease as the group grows. 
        • The minimum number needed for this tour to run is usually 4 women. However, it’s also possible to run the tour with smaller groups if participants cover the extra cost required for it to operate. This will usually be discussed between you and your guide 6 weeks prior to the tour start date.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

      If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • A 25 % deposit to secure your place is due upon booking. The remaining amount is paid 3 months (90 days) prior to departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies. 

        • If Client cancels the Booking anytime prior to ninety (90) calendar days in advance of the trip contemplated by the booking, Client is entitled to a refund or moving the credit to another holiday, minus the deposit. It is not possible to refund the deposit as it covers costs that have already been incurred.
        • After that deadline, Client is not entitled to any refund. Any reimbursable expenses arising out of the Booking incurred by Guide prior to the date of cancellation (including but not limited to plane tickets, car rental payments, and lodging or transportation fees) are non-refundable as soon as they are incurred by the Guide. However, the Guide will discuss options with the Client regarding the possibility of reselling the Client’s place.
        • If Client has to cancel the trip due to COVID-19 infection, the Guide will refund Client’s money or transfer it to another trip.
    • To get to La Gomera, most people fly into Tenerife South Airport, which is 3 hours away. You should arrive before 2 pm on day one, since your guide has the group transfer completely covered (including the ferry ride). 

      If you are not able to arrive precisely on day 1 or on time, let your guide know! They will gladly help you with anything and can make arrangements to extend your holidays (for example, adding a night in Tenerife before traveling on to La Gomera).

    • 57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.
