When booking a trip, you can either pay for it in full or reserve your spot with a 30% deposit. The remaining 70% of the trip price is to be paid 90 days prior to departure, at the latest.

Cancellations

After 48 hours, booking fees are non-refundable in all cases. You can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options:

  • One trail, two countries, and eight days of pure adventure—this Camino Portuguese 8-day adventure is an unforgettable walk through time. We’ll start in Portugal, winding through charming villages, past rolling vineyards, and into the heart of Galicia. Along the way? Fresh pastries, delicious meals, and café stops that turn into lifelong memories. And when we finally reach Santiago de Compostela? That’s the kind of finish line no one ever forgets. Thoughtfully planned, expertly guided, and packed with the best of the Camino—this is the way to walk!

    • On the first day, we’ll meet the guide at 7:30am in the foyer of the NH Collection Hotel, Porto, and then transfer to Arcos. We’ll walk through gentle hills, forests, and rural landscapes with cornfields and vineyards, then pass through small villages before crossing the medieval stone bridge into Barcelos. We’ll explore the historic town known for its artistic heritage and the legend of the Barcelos rooster. Overnight stay is at Art’Otel Barcelos, centrally located with shops and cafes nearby. Dinner is at a local restaurant featuring traditional Portuguese cuisine.

      Easier option: Free morning in Barcelos with a second guide. Join the group in Pedra Furada for a shorter walk to Barcelos.

      Hiking the Camino Portuguese

    • After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Lugar do Corgo. We’ll walk through olive groves, vineyards, and Roman cobblestone roads, passing active villages. As we approach the Lima River Valley, we’ll reach Ponte de Lima, Portugal’s oldest village, with charming streets, museums, and a historic medieval bridge. Overnight at Hotel Imperior de Norte (or Parador de Tui for September departures). Dinner with regional wines is at the hotel.

      Easier option: Walk 9.5 km (5.9 mi) from Facha to Ponte de Lima or enjoy a free day in Ponte de Lima.

      Hiking: 14.7 km (9.1 mi)
      Accommodation: Hotel Imperior de Norte, Ponte de Lima or Parador de Tui, Tui

      Ponto de Lima bridge

    • After breakfast, we’ll take a morning transfer across the border into Galicia, Spain. We’ll walk through the Spanish countryside with vineyards and small villages, and climb to Santiaguiño de Anta, featuring Camino-related motifs and panoramic views. Arriving in Redondela, known for its viaducts, we’ll transfer to Parador de Tui, a castle-like hotel with a pool, restaurant, and bar. We’ll have dinner featuring local specialties.

      Easier option: Enjoy a free day in Tui, exploring its historic sites.

      Hiking: 15.2 km (9.4 mi)
      Accommodation: Parador de Tui, Tui

      Galician feast

    • On Day 4, after breakfast, we’ll transfer to the trail. We’ll walk through forest paths, rural areas, and vineyards. We’ll cross the Verdugo River at Ponte Sampaio, where Napoleon’s army suffered a major defeat. Continuing past the 13th-century church of Santa Maria, we’ll enjoy views of Vigo Bay. Arriving in Pontevedra, we’ll explore its well-preserved historic center and charming squares. We’ll stay overnight in a centrally-located hotel and have dinner with local wines.

      Easier option: Enjoy a free day in Pontevedra or take a shorter 12 km (7.5 mi) walk.

      Hiking: 18.2 km (11.3 mi)

    • After breakfast, we’ll walk through picturesque villages, passing the Romanesque church of Santa Maria de Alba. We’ll continue through Portela and Briallos before reaching Caldas de Reis, famous for its hot springs. After a transfer back to Pontevedra, we’ll have dinner featuring fresh regional cuisine.

      Easier option: Enjoy a free day in Cambados or take a 10 km (6.2 mi) walk.

      Hiking: 23 km (14.3 mi)
      Accommodation: Hotel in Pontevedra

      Caldas de Reis

    • On Day 6, after breakfast, we’ll transfer to the trail. We’ll walk through the scenic countryside, stopping in O Cruceiro before crossing the Ulla River into the province of A Coruña. Reaching Padrón, we’ll explore the home of the famous Padrón peppers and the historic Church of Santiago, where St. James’ relics were first received. We’ll stay at the 16th-century Hotel Pazo de Lestrove, once an archbishop’s retreat. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

      Easier option: Walk 10 km (6.2 mi) instead.

      Hiking: 18.5 km (11.5 mi)
      Accommodation: Hotel Pazo de Lestrove

      Padron peppers

    • On this day, we’ll set off on the final stage of the journey after breakfast. We’ll walk through small towns, past the A Esclavitud sanctuary, and view the Castro Lupario fortress. Along the way, we’ll spot numerous stone crosses. From Agros dos Monteiros, we’ll glimpse the towers of Santiago’s Cathedral before reaching the historic city center. We’ll attend the 6:30pm pilgrim service at the cathedral. Later on, we’ll stay at Parador Santiago, a luxury hotel with prime views of the cathedral, and celebrate with a special dinner in the hotel’s vaulted restaurant.

      Easier option: Walk 10 km (6.2 mi) instead.

      Hiking: 25 km (15.5 mi)
      Accommodation: Parador Santiago

      Padron in Spain

    • This is the final day of the hiking adventure. After breakfast, our tour concludes. We will say our goodbyes and depart back home.

    • This Camino Portuguese 8-day adventure is rated moderate, which means that good health and a moderately good fitness level are required to participate. Expect hiking up to 25 km (15.5 mi) per day. Shorter options are also available. Luggage transfers are included, so you won’t have to haul your baggage.

    • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

        • Day pack for everything you might need throughout the day (around a 25-40L bag)

      Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

    • Group sizes and pricing

        • For this Camino Portuguese 8-day hike, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 6:1.
        • Should the group be fully booked, 2 guides will accompany the group.
        • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 12 participants.

      Min. age requirements

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors older than 8 may be permitted to join the Camino Portuguese 8-day hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

      If your group has participants under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • The starting point of your Camino Portuguese 8-day hike is Porto, Portugal. To get there, most people fly into Porto Airport (OPO). From there, you can take a shuttle service, public transport, or rent a car to reach Porto.

      Once you’re there, you will meet your guide at 7:30am in the foyer of the NH Collection Hotel, Porto. Please make sure to arrive in Porto a day earlier because the adventure starts quite early on Day 1.
