  • Follow the historic Tagus River from vibrant Lisbon to sacred Fátima on this 6-day e-bike adventure! We'll ride scenic routes past riverside villages, through cork forests, and limestone formations, all on our trusty Cannondale e-bikes. An expert guide leads the way, a support van handles the logistics, and each night brings comfort at hand-picked 4-star hotels. With daily breakfast, snacks on the ride, and full luggage transfers included, this perfectly balanced adventure gives us active exploration, Portuguese charm, and premium comfort.

    • Welcome to Lisboa! Use this day to explore the city before meeting with the guide and group for our main briefing.

      Arrival in Lisbon
    • We begin our day at Lisbon’s Cathedral, making our way east through the city towards Parque das Nações. We’ll explore traditional Alfacinha neighborhoods that showcase the city’s authentic character alongside modern urban developments. The route takes us along the Tagus River, where we can observe the natural wetlands and their diverse wildlife.

As we make our way through the hillsides, we’ll see historic farmhouses, ancient olive groves, and religious landmarks including churches, chapels, and traditional fountains. Our journey combines dedicated pedestrian paths and shared routes.

    • To the east, our route is framed by the characteristic landscape of the Lezíria do Tejo, with valleys dotted with cistus plants, ash trees, and reeds. To the west, our path is bordered by mountains covered in pine and cork oak forests. We’ll bike along the riverbanks, where we’ll find several inviting river beaches shaded by ash trees. We’ll see historic villages like Valada do Ribatejo, Reguengo do Alviela, and Porto de Muge, where we’ll see how local communities adapted to the Tagus River’s seasonal flooding by building protective dykes.

    • Today we’ll explore the mountainous terrain of the karst massif within the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park. Since it’s a challenging landscape, it’s best to divide the journey into five sections with rest stops in between.

Our path takes us through the Serra de Santo António plateau, which serves as a gateway to an area characterized by dramatic elevation changes. We’ll encounter steep mountain slopes, imposing cliffs, and deep valleys, mixed with small agricultural pits. This route holds historical significance as the traditional passage that both divides and links the Tagus River plains to the coastal region.

    • Our journey continues through the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, where we’ll discover deserted mountain ranges, small agricultural pits, and even lairs where settlements were formed. Today’s route features remarkable cave systems and distinctive geological formations. We’ll pass by notable landmarks including the lapiaz fields (limestone pavements) and the steep Mira-Minde polje. As we approach Fátima, we’ll witness the transition from rural countryside to urban development, shaped by the presence of the Sanctuary. Fátima holds a unique place in Portuguese history as the country’s only urban centre developed in the 20th century that formed around a religious pilgrimage site.
