Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

  • Seven days based in the Kufstein area, with five guided road rides and no repacking. We arrive on day one, meet the group and the guides, then ride out each morning straight from the hotel. Days take in the Inn Valley past Maria Stein and Rattenberg, a loop around Lake Walchsee with a longer option circling the Wilder Kaiser, the Pölven roundtrip through Söll and Bad Häring, the Windau valley with a Kitzbühel extension, and a final big day over into Bavaria and back via Lake Thiersee. Half-board, buffet breakfasts, and 3-course dinners are included, plus bike pick-up if anything goes wrong mechanically. Bike hire and airport transfers can be arranged at an additional cost.

    • Arrive at your hotel in the Kufstein area, settle into your room, and get your bike sorted for the week ahead. This is the easy part: no riding, just a chance to meet the other riders and your guides over a 3-course dinner and talk through what’s coming. Kufstein sits at the heart of one of the main regions of the 2018 UCI Cycling World Championships and hosts the Kufsteinerland Cycle Marathon every year, so you’re in good company here. Every tour of the week starts and ends right at the hotel door, which means no shuttling around and no early scrambles.

      Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: 4-star hotel in the Kufstein area

Arrival in the Kufstein area — Cycling in Kufstein | Austria
    • After a buffet breakfast, we roll out of Kufstein and into the wide, green Inn Valley on some of the nicest bike ways in Tirol. First stop is Maria Stein, a pilgrim church perched above the valley floor, then we swing past Lake Raintaler See before dropping into Rattenberg, the smallest town in the country and a fun place to spin through. The gradients stay friendly all day, so it’s a good chance to find your rhythm and get used to riding with the group. We loop back to Kufstein in the afternoon, with dinner waiting at the hotel.

      Meals: Breakfast, dinner
      Distance: 65 km (40 mi)
      Elevation: +450 m (+1,476 ft)
Accommodation: 4-star hotel in the Kufstein area

      cycling group in austria
    • Today comes in two sizes. The standard loop takes us from Kufstein up to Lake Walchsee and back through Ebbs, home of the Tyrolean horse centre, at a relaxed 40 km (25 mi). If your legs are asking for more, we ride the extended version all the way around the Wilder Kaiser mountain range, which doubles the distance and adds some proper climbing under those big limestone walls. Whichever option you pick, we regroup and head back to the same hotel in Kufstein for a 3-course dinner and a good look at tomorrow’s route.

      Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Distance: 40 km (25 mi) or 80 km (50 mi)
      Elevation: +350 m (+1,148 ft) or +900 m (+2,953 ft)
Accommodation: 4-star hotel in the Kufstein area

Lake Walchsee loop — Cycling in Kufstein | Austria
    • We head south out of Kufstein towards Hopfgarten and Westendorf, then turn up into the Windau valley, a quiet dead-end road with a stream running alongside and farms scattered up the slopes. After the turnaround it’s a steady roll back to Kufstein. Feeling strong? There’s a longer option that swings around the Hohe Salve via Hopfgarten, Kitzbühel, and Ellmau, adding a bit more distance and climbing. Your guides will sort out who rides what over breakfast, so nobody feels pushed either way. Dinner is back at the hotel, and you’ll have earned it.

      Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Distance: 70 km (43 mi) or 80 km (50 mi)
      Elevation: +650 m (+2,133 ft) or +760 m (+2,493 ft)
Accommodation: 4-star hotel in the Kufstein area

From Kufstein to the Windau valley — Cycling in Kufstein | Austria
    • Today we loop around the Pölven, the green hump that sits between Kufstein and the Wilder Kaiser. Rolling out of town, we climb steadily towards Söll, then carry on to Itter with its little castle on the hill. The road back over Bad Häring is the fun part, quiet, smooth, and with plenty of views across the Inn Valley before we drop down to Kufstein. It’s the shortest ride of the week on paper, but the climbing keeps your legs honest. Back at the hotel there’s time to spin out, soak in the pool, or grab a coffee in the old town before dinner.

      Meals: Breakfast, dinner
      Distance: 45 km (28 mi)
      Elevation: +650 m (+2,133 ft)
Accommodation: 4-star hotel in the Kufstein area

Around Mount Pölven — Cycling in Kufstein | Austria
    • Our biggest ride saves the best for last. We roll north out of Kufstein and cross into Bavaria at Neubeuren, then swing east through quiet countryside towards Bayrischzell, tucked under the mountains. The way home takes us past Lake Thiersee, a lovely spot for a last coffee stop before the final run back down to Kufstein. It’s a long day in the saddle with steady climbing rather than anything brutal, and your guides will keep the pace sensible so everyone rolls in together. Back at the hotel, there’s a three-course dinner waiting and plenty of stories from the week to go with it.

      Meals: Breakfast, dinner
      Distance: 90 km (56 mi)
      Elevation: +800 m (+2,625 ft)
Accommodation: 4-star hotel in the Kufstein area

      riding bike in austria
    • Enjoy one last buffet breakfast with the group before saying goodbye. Check out of the hotel and head home with tired legs and a week of Tyrolean roads behind you. Airport transfers can be arranged if you need one, and your guides are happy to help you sort out the details before you go.

      Meals: Breakfast

Most days are shorter than that, with the easiest loop around 40 km (25 mi) and 350 m (1,148 ft) of climbing, so there’s a nice mix. Some days have an extended version for riders who want a bigger challenge, and every tour starts and ends at your hotel in the Kufstein area, so there’s no luggage to carry beyond what fits in your jersey pockets.
