Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

  • An Iceland luxury tour like this keeps everything running smoothly so you can focus on the landscapes, not the logistics. One local Icelandic guide stays with us throughout the six days, and a comfortable 4x4 Supertruck carries the group and luggage from one highlight to the next. We’ll see thundering waterfalls, black sand shores, and erupting geysers, hike on Sólheimajökull glacier, and explore Þórsmörk, Landmannalaugar, and Kerlingarfjöll. Hiking distances, ascent, and times are approximate, and our guide adapts each route to the group and conditions.

    • We journey along the South Coast, where green cliffs rise above black volcanic shores. First up is the mighty Skógafoss waterfall, close enough to feel its spray, followed by Reynisfjara, a black sand beach known for its basalt columns and dramatic sea stacks. Then we step onto the ice for a guided hike on Sólheimajökull glacier, discovering sculpted ice formations and the contrasts of ash and ice. All the required equipment is provided, including a helmet, crampons, a safety harness, and an ice axe. We spend the night at Hotel Rangá, with dinner and outdoor hot tubs waiting.

      Meals: Lunch, dinner
      Accommodation: Hotel Rangá (standard room)

      Ice in Iceland
    • We travel into Þórsmörk, a green wilderness framed by glaciers, where winding glacial rivers thread through the valley below steep ridges and birch woodland. Our hike starts in Langidalur and takes us over Valahnúkur and around Tindfjallahringur, with sweeping views of the glaciers, braided rivers, and surrounding mountains along the way. On the return, we stop at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall before an evening back at Hotel Rangá.

      Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
      Hiking: 12 km (7.5 mi)
      Elevation gain: 600 m (1,970 ft)
      Hiking time: 6 hours
      Accommodation: Hotel Rangá (standard room)

      Seljansfoss waterfall in Iceland
    • We enter Landmannalaugar, a landscape where colour is everywhere: golden, rust-red, and pink rhyolite slopes, blue-grey peaks, dark lava, and bright green moss. We hike the Bláhnúkur and Brennisteinsalda loop through this extraordinary volcanic terrain, passing steaming vents and enjoying ever-changing views across the Rainbow Mountains. After a full day of Highland adventure and hiking, we return to Hotel Rangá for dinner and time in the hot tubs.

      Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
      Hiking: 10 km (6.2 mi)
      Elevation gain: 600 m (1,970 ft)
      Hiking time: 6 hours
      Accommodation: Hotel Rangá (standard room)

      Ljotipollur lake
    • We watch Gullfoss plunge into its rugged canyon, then enjoy lunch before travelling into the open Highlands. Ahead rise the Troll Mountains of Kerlingarfjöll, their colourful slopes contrasting with lingering snow. We settle into our deluxe rooms at Highland Base and take a short riverside walk to the nearby geothermal pool, surrounded by the quiet of the mountains.

      Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
      Accommodation: Highland Base (deluxe room)

      Colorful Iceland Ancient Trails
    • We hike towards Hveradalahnjúkur and into Hveradalir, the Hot Spring Valley, where the earth seems alive. Steam rises from hot springs, mud pools bubble, and mineral colours streak the golden and reddish rhyolite mountains, while snow and glacial ice add striking contrast to the warm geothermal ground. Each ridge along the trail reveals new views. Back at Highland Base, we finish the day with a well-earned soak in the Highland Baths and a three-course dinner.

      Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
      Hiking: 12 km (7.5 mi)
      Elevation gain: 600 m (1,970 ft)
      Hiking time: 6 hours
      Accommodation: Highland Base (deluxe room)

      Turquoise river in the highlands
    • We see the eruptions and steaming pools of the Geysir geothermal area, then sit down to a farm-to-table lunch at Efstidalur for a taste of rural Iceland. Next, we walk through the dramatic rift landscape of Þingvellir National Park as our guide brings Iceland’s history and traditions to life. We return to Reykjavík in the early evening, where the tour ends.

      Meals: Breakfast, lunch

      Gullfoss waterfall

    • To join this Iceland luxury hiking tour, great fitness is required. You should be comfortable hiking on consecutive days over uneven mountain terrain, with daily distances reaching up to 12 km (7.5 mi), elevation gain of up to 600 m (1,970 ft), and around 6 hours of hiking on the main hiking days.

Previous hiking experience is strongly recommended. Keep in mind that Iceland’s weather can change quickly, and you may encounter rocky trails, river crossings by vehicle, and long active days. The good news: your luggage travels with us in the vehicle, so you carry only a daypack on the trail.

    • These Iceland luxury tours run in the summer, from July through September. Temperatures usually range between 5°C and 15°C once in the Highlands—so layering is key! On rare occasions, it can dip as low as -5°C or rise up to 25°C. Iceland’s weather is famously unpredictable, so the most important thing is to be well-prepared with proper clothing and gear.

There’s really no “perfect” time to visit—each month offers its own unique charm, with changing landscapes, trail conditions, and experiences. Here’s what to expect throughout the season:

        • July — The most stable weather of the season. Snow fields mostly gone, warmest and driest month, with minimal wind — ideal for hiking.
        • August — Snow-free trails and the first chances to catch the northern lights as the nights slowly return!
        • September — Crisp, chilly nights with a high chance of seeing the northern lights. The weather becomes less predictable, and the trail feels wilder as autumn approaches.
    • Group sizes and prices:

        • For this Iceland luxury tour, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 10:1.
        • It takes a minimum of 6 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 10 participants.

Iceland luxury tours can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • The price for this Iceland luxury tour is based on twin-share rooms, but a single occupancy room can be arranged at an additional fee. Let us know if interested.

    • The starting point of this Iceland luxury tour is Reykjavík. To get there, most people fly into Keflavík International Airport (KEF). From there, you can take a bus, shuttle, or taxi to Reykjavík. Your guides can also arrange airport transfers and hotel stays before or after the tour at an additional cost.

You will meet your guide in the morning of Day 1 at the BSI bus terminal in central Reykjavík, which is easy to reach on foot or by public transportation. The tour ends back in Reykjavík in the early evening on Day 6.

    • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with insurance. To make your booking and traveling experience as carefree as possible, you’ll be offered to simply insure your trip with Redpoint at checkout.
