We meet our pilot and trip manager at the heli-pad in Whistler, Campbell River, or Powell River for the flight up to base camp. With five days of riding ahead and a well-vetted group, we offer two distinct options to kick things off. The first heads to the Northeastern ridgeline, home to over 10km of steep granite terrain and its own natural heli pad: after an orientation and safety debrief, we descend steep, technical slabs 800 meters down to a sub-alpine bench of shaded trees, then follow a lower traverse and a final climbing line up into camp. The second option takes us to a new South ridge, the only point on the trip with views of the Georgia Strait and Vancouver Island, descending over 1,000 meters of knife-edge granite before a traverse below a moraine to the glaciated tarn beside camp. Either way, we finish with a dip in glacial water, a sauna, and a three-course fireside meal.
