Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

  • This guided seven-day adventure links Switzerland, Austria, and Italy on some of the best high-alpine e-MTB singletrack out there. We ride old smugglers’ trails and centuries-old paths, crossing borders six times and passing UNESCO sites like the Convent of St. John and the Bernina Railway. Each day brings fresh mountain scenery, technical climbs, and long descents—always with lifts, shuttles, and an expert local guide to maximize trail time and safety. We stay in handpicked 3- to 4-star alpine hotels and boutique inns, with luggage transfers and laundry so you can focus on the ride. Some nights end in quiet mountain villages, others in places famous for their culture and history—giving you the full rhythm of the Alps, both on and off the bike.

    • Arrive in Scuol and get set for the week ahead. We kick off by meeting the group and your guide, who’ll walk everyone through bikes, check your gear, and offer setup help or riding tips if you want. No rush or pressure—today is your chance to ask questions, get to know your bike, and make sure everything works for the adventures ahead. We stay local, using a lift to reach nearby alpine terrain, then ride flowing and technical trails in the Lower Engadin, looping back to town. There’s time to fine-tune your setup and relax at the thermal baths, so you feel fully prepped for the epic days to come.

Riding: 30–40 km (19–25 mi), 6 hours including breaks
      Elevation gain/loss: +1,000 m (3,281 ft), -2,000 m (6,562 ft)
Technical difficulty & trail type: Moderate to challenging, natural alpine trails with flowing, exposed, and technique-focused sections
Highest point: Fuorcla Champatsch, 2,730 m (8,957 ft)
Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel / boutique hotel

Meet the Group and Discover the Lower Engadin — Mountain Biking in Switzerland, Austria, and Italy
    • We kick off with a morning transfer from Scuol to Samnaun, then ride cable cars high into the Alps where real adventure kicks in. Our route follows trails once trodden by smugglers hauling everything from coffee to tobacco, weaving us from Switzerland over into Austria. From the windswept Viderjoch at 2,730 m (8,957 ft), we launch into a long, thrilling descent toward Ischgl—mostly Blue Square singletrack with a few Black Diamond sections to keep you on your toes. Expect epic views, plenty of flowing trail, and some short technical or exposed stretches as we carry our gear for an overnight in Austria. There’s nothing quite like crossing borders by bike with your essentials on your back.

Riding: 40 km (25 mi), 6 hours including breaks
      Elevation gain/loss: +
      1,000 m (3,281 ft), -2,400 m (7,874 ft)
      Highest point:
      Viderjoch, 2,730 m (8,957 ft)
      Technical difficulty & trail type:
Moderate to challenging, lift-assisted Alpine singletrack, mostly Blue Square trails with some Black Diamond sections, flowing passages, historic smugglers’ paths, and a few shorter technical or exposed sections
Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel / boutique hotel

Across the Border on Old Smugglers’ Trails — Mountain Biking in Switzerland, Austria, and Italy
    • We start high after a morning lift, riding straight into technical singletrack across the historic Fimber Pass and back into Switzerland—big scenery and real alpine energy. Taking on exposed ridges along the Austrian–Swiss border toward Salaaser Kopf means rocky passages and unforgettable views, but nothing beats the long natural descent: drop through Val Sinestra, roll past the Romansh village of Vnà, and let gravity do the work. At an alpine hut or mountain restaurant, we’ll refuel together before that final ride home. Once in Scuol, there’s time to grab your luggage and soak it all off in the thermal baths.

Riding: 45 km (28 mi), 6 hours including breaks
      Elevation gain/loss: +1,500 m (4,921 ft), -3,000 m (9,843 ft)
Technical difficulty & trail type: Challenging, 80% singletrack, mix of Blue Square and Black Diamond; S2 on European Singletrail Scale, with rocky passages, exposed ridges, and long descents
Highest point: Salaaser Kopf, 2,849 m (9,347 ft)
Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel / boutique hotel

Mountain Biking in Switzerland, Austria, and Italy
    • We start the day with a shuttle to S-charl, an old mining village set deep in the mountains. From here, we wind through the stunning God da Tamangur pine forest and skirt the edge of the Swiss National Park. The trail gets technical and raw as we pass Alp Astras—expect exposed singletrack, with rocky bits that keep you alert and make every move count. With the Ortler massif up ahead, we briefly roll into Italy, then cross back to Switzerland and finish in Müstair, just steps from the UNESCO-listed Convent of St John. Today packs history, wild nature, and a dose of adventure you’ll feel in your legs and your grin.

Riding: Approximately 40 km (25 mi), 6 hours including breaks
      Elevation: +1,200 m (3,937 ft), -1,900 m (6,234 ft)
Technical difficulty & trail type: Challenging, natural alpine singletrack—mostly Blue Square terrain, with several Black Diamond sections and technical passages; rated  S2 on the European Singletrail Scale, includes a brief border crossing into Italy
      Highest point: Approximately 2,540 m (8,333 ft)
Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel / boutique hotel

Alpine Singletrack Along the Swiss National Park — Mountain Biking in Switzerland, Austria, and Italy
    • We kick off the day with a shuttle up to Ofen Pass at 2,149 m (7,051 ft), then set out on smooth singletrack weaving through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Engiadina Val Müstair. Expect a mix of open slopes, larch forests, and gravel as we cross quietly into Italy—the kind of border crossing you’ll remember for its peace, not its paperwork. Trails lead us down through the Alpe del Gallo area, serving up wide views over reservoirs and big mountain backdrops, before a final undulating section into Livigno. It’s a rewarding day on flowing natural trails, mostly Blue Square terrain, with just enough spice to keep you happily on your toes.

Riding: Approximately 45 km (28 mi), 6 hours including breaks
      Elevation gain/loss: +1,300 m (4,265 ft), -1,700 m (5,577 ft)
Technical difficulty & trail type: Moderate; flowing natural singletrack, forest trails, and gravel tracks; predominantly Blue Square terrain, generally without Black Diamond sections
Highest point: Passo di Val Trela, 2,295 m (7,530 ft)
Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel / boutique hotel

Across the Alpine Border to Livigno — Mountain Biking in Switzerland, Austria, and Italy
    • We wake up in Livigno and roll right into Italian mountain-bike culture—think good coffee, morning buzz, and trail chatter before hopping on the gondola up to Mottolino. This is the start of one last big push: all-out high-alpine singletrack, weaving past rocks and wildflowers and up toward Fuorcla Minor, the day’s highest point at 2,434 m (7,986 ft). Once over the pass, we drop back into Switzerland, riding technical Blue Square and Black Diamond terrain, with views (weather willing) of glaciers and the massive Piz Bernina, topping out at 4,049 m (13,284 ft). Our path flows alongside the legendary Bernina railway before we enter St. Moritz—where we hop on the scenic train back to Scuol, aiming to finish around 5:30 p.m. There’s still time to relax in the thermal baths if you want to chase the last aches away and soak up that hard-earned sense of accomplishment.

Riding: Approximately 60 km (37 mi), 6 hours including breaks
      Elevation gain/loss: +1,600 m (5,249 ft), -2,400 m (7,874 ft)
Technical difficulty & trail type: Challenging; high-alpine singletrack, mostly Blue Square terrain with several Black Diamond sections; technical passages S2 on the European Singletrail Scale
Highest point: Fuorcla Minor, 2,434 m (7,986 ft)
Accommodation: 3 or 4-star hotel / boutique hotel

From Italy to St. Moritz: The Grand Finale — Mountain Biking in Switzerland, Austria, and Italy
    • After a week of crossing borders and rugged trails together, we take the morning to enjoy one last breakfast in Scuol. There’s time to look back on the ride, swap photos, and say goodbye before everyone checks out and sets off on their own path home. However far you travel next, the Alps will stick with you—thanks for sharing this ride with us!

        • Drinks
        • E-bike repair costs resulting from damage caused by the guest

    • In order to join this e-mountain biking tour, excellent fitness is required as well as advanced e-mountain biking experience on natural alpine singletrack. The most you’ll ride within a day is up to 50 km (31 mi), with as much as 1,600 m (5,250 ft) of elevation gain.

This adventure is only suitable for riders who regularly tackle natural singletrack and can safely handle extended Black Diamond trails and unpredictable terrain. Expect rocks, roots, loose surfaces, narrow lines, steep technical climbs and descents, tight switchbacks, exposed traverses, and natural rock steps—often rated Blue Square, but with several sustained Black Diamond sections. Daily stages involve up to six hours of riding (including breaks, lifts, and transfers), and the weather or trail conditions can make things even more demanding.

If you are not comfortable riding natural singletrack at speed—or if you tend to walk most Black Diamond sections—this trip is not a good fit. Riders should understand their own limits and be able to dismount for only brief, isolated trail features. Prior experience on high-alpine singletrack is a must.

Discover more bike adventures in the Alps here!

    • This adventure is for riders with strong technical e-mountain biking skills and a real appetite for raw alpine adventure. The focus is on natural singletrack—routes often rated Blue Square or Black Diamond, with plenty of rocky, exposed, and challenging sections. Bike park-style flow trails or wide blue runs aren’t enough to prepare you for this trip. If you’re stoked about tackling steep, rocky climbs, tight switchbacks, and long natural descents in varied mountain terrain, you’ll feel right at home here. Excellent bike-handling ability is much more important than having elite fitness—though you do need to be comfortable with a full day in the saddle at altitude, on demanding trails.

It’s the perfect tour for riders who want effort, adventure, mountains, and camaraderie, not a race. The group takes time to enjoy great food, soak up the landscapes at lunch stops, and share the ride with others at a similar ability level. If you want a real cross-border alpine singletrack challenge and believe the best memories are made outside your comfort zone—this is your trip.

    • If a stage proves too difficult to complete safely, or you’d simply rather not ride it, you can skip it and rejoin the group at the next hotel.

        • If your guide determines it’s unsafe for you to proceed—for your own safety or the group’s—you may be required to skip the stage. You’re also welcome to skip one by choice, whether due to weather, illness, fatigue, or just needing a break.
        • Either way, you can take a taxi with your e-bike to the next hotel at your own expense.
        • Joining the group luggage transfer is not possible—these transfers are for main luggage only and do not accommodate guests.

The safety of every participant and the team comes first, and your guides make the final call if a stage isn’t safe to continue. Whatever the reason, let your guides know as early as possible so they can help arrange logistics and ensure a smooth transition between hotels.

This keeps every distinct piece of info from both originals (the guide’s safety veto, the personal-choice option, the taxi arrangement, the luggage-transfer exclusion, and the “let us know early” guidance) without repeating the taxi/luggage points twice.

    • Gear:

        • Certified mountain bike helmet — required
        • Biking shoes — compatible with your pedals
        • Daypack (minimum 20 L) with rain cover
        • Knee pads
        • Elbow pads (optional, but recommended for added protection)
        • Biking gloves
        • Sunglasses
        • Hydration system (2 L recommended—water bottle or CamelBak)

      Clothing:

        • Bike shorts — at least 2 pairs
        • Short- and long-sleeve bike jerseys
        • Thermal underwear (long sleeve, for chilly mornings)
        • Socks — bring several pairs
        • Rain jacket and rain pants — mandatory weather protection
        • Waterproof gloves (especially for cold or wet rides)
        • Neoprene socks or overshoes — for warmth in wet weather
        • Warm jacket for evenings (down or synthetic works well)
        • Hat and gloves (for cooler nights or high passes)
        • Neck warmer/buff
        • Swimwear (some hotels have pools or wellness areas)

      Other essentials:

        • Sunscreen (high SPF)
        • Toiletries
        • Personal medication
        • Some cash in both CHF (Swiss francs) and EUR (Euros)
        • Camera (optional, but highly recommended)

      For each ride:

        • Trail snacks (some provided, but bring any personal favorites)
        • Water—bring enough for the day and refill during stops
        • Energy bars and nuts
        • Wind and rain jacket (always pack these, even in good weather)

Dress for active riding and shifting mountain weather. Layers work best—avoid jeans, and go for athletic clothing that moves with you and dries quickly. Temperatures in the Alps can vary widely, so prepare for warm sun, chilly wind, and sudden rain, even in summer.

All hotels on this tour offer a daily laundry service—it’s included in the price. With fresh kit waiting for you every morning, there’s no need to pack a ton of gear or worry about handwashing in the sink at the end of a long day.

Got everything you need? Grab your gear through Active Junky and earn cash back on top outdoor brands — plus a $10 bonus on your first $25+ purchase. Shop now at Active Junky!

    • Luggage allowance:

        • Luggage transfers are included for one bag per person weighing up to 15 kg (33 lb) for the duration of the tour.
        • If you would like to bring a second bag, your guides recommend arranging this in advance—a second bag can be transported for an additional fee (details and pricing are provided at checkout or on request).

Your main bag will be transferred between hotels, except during Stages 2 and 3, when it remains securely at the hotel in Scuol. You’ll only need to carry a small daypack with essentials during that overnight—see the related FAQ above for what to pack.

All hotels on this tour offer a daily laundry service—it’s included in the price. With fresh kit waiting for you every morning, there’s no need to pack a ton of gear or worry about handwashing in the sink at the end of a long day.

Any extra luggage you don’t require during the tour can be stored securely at your hotel in Scuol for the duration of the trip. If you have valuables (such as travel documents, electronics, or cash) that you prefer not to leave in hotel storage, the guides recommend keeping them with you in your daypack during the ride. Luggage storage at the hotel is generally safe and convenient, but personal items kept with you offer the highest peace of mind.

    • To keep your trip completely hassle-free, you can simply add rental bikes to your booking during checkout. Bike rentals typically include high-end e-mountain bikes—such as the Specialized Turbo Levo 4 with an 840 Wh battery or Trek Rail with an 800 Wh battery.—offering strong battery range and reliable performance for long days in the Alps. Each bike is well maintained, fully equipped, and ready to handle anything from rugged mountain trails to easier valley rides.

Your guide is trained in first aid and handles minor bike repairs during the tour. Larger repairs are done in the evenings, and if a bike can’t be fixed quickly, a replacement will be arranged so you can keep riding.

If damage is caused by a crash or improper handling, the repair costs are charged to the renter. If there is a technical fault or issue that’s not your fault, all repair and replacement costs are covered by the guides.

If you have specific preferences, sizing questions, or want a particular model, just leave us a note at checkout—your guides are happy to help you get set up with the best e-MTB for your adventure.

Your guides recommend flat pedals for this trip. They make it easier to put a foot down quickly on technical or loose terrain and to walk the bike through hike-a-bike sections, which you’ll likely hit in the high Alps. Since the e-bike motor handles most of the climbing, the usual efficiency edge of clipless pedals matters less here. If you’re already comfortable with clipless pedals on rocky, high-altitude singletrack, you’re welcome to bring them—but for most riders, flat pedals are the better choice for this style of riding.

    • This e-mountain biking tour runs from early July to early October, covering both summer and early autumn in the Alps.

      What to expect by month:

        • July and August are ideal if you want to experience peak Alpine wildflowers—meadows will be in full bloom and days are longest, though there’s a chance of afternoon storms or quick weather changes at altitude.
        • September and early October deliver classic autumn colors—expect golden larches, brilliant foliage, and a quieter feel on the trails after the main holiday season.

The weather in the high Alps can shift quickly, so always bring proper layers and rain gear, no matter the month. Your guides recommend booking the dates that best match your scenery goals—bright wildflowers in summer, or golden forests and crisp air in the fall.

    • Group sizes and pricing

        • For these bike holidays in Switzerland, Italy, and Austria, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 6:1.

In case your guides aren’t able to find another traveler to share a room with you, you’ll be required to cover the single occupancy fee.

Bike holidays in Switzerland, Italy, and Austria can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

      Min. age requirements

        • The guides recommend a minimum age of 25 for this adventure, so participants are more likely to share a similar pace and group dynamic.
        • Experienced riders between 18 and 24 may be considered after prior consultation—eligibility depends on legal regulation, technical riding ability, and a good match in terms of expectations and overall group experience.

If your group includes riders under the age of 25, contact us prior to booking to discuss options.

    • The price for these bike holidays in Switzerland, Italy, and Austria is based on twin-share rooms, but a single occupancy room can be arranged at an additional fee. You can add it to your booking at checkout.

Solo travelers are welcome—they can either share a room with another same-gender solo traveler at no extra cost, or guarantee a private room by paying a single occupancy fee. In case your guides aren’t able to find another traveler to share a room with you, you’ll be required to cover the single occupancy fee.

    • The starting point of your bike holidays in Switzerland, Austria, and Italy is Scuol, Switzerland. To get there, most people travel by train—Scuol is well connected by public transport within Switzerland. Alternatively, a taxi may be taken for the final leg of your journey. To get there, most people fly into Zurich Airport (ZRH).

You will meet your guide at 9:00 am in the lobby of Hotel Belvedere, Scuol on Day 1. The night before the tour is not included in the price, but your guides are happy to recommend accommodations in Scuol for a pre-tour stay if needed.
