  • Join us on a guided 4-day hiking tour to Choquequirao! The trek offers a perfect blend of adventure, history, and a bit of comfort in the wild. We’ll hike challenging trails through the remote Andes, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes of lush forests, rivers, and valleys. The highlight of the tour are the ancient Incan ruins of Choquequirao, where few tourists venture, allowing for an authentic and intimate experience. Each day, we’ll relax at secluded campsites, with a private chef preparing fresh, gourmet meals with local ingredients. If you’re seeking a physically rewarding trek mixed with cultural discovery and a touch of comfort in nature, this is the tour for you!

    • We will pick you up from your hotel at 4am for a 4.5-hour ride in a private transport vehicle to Capuliyoc (2,915 meters / 9,564 feet). Along the way, you’ll see nice views of villages, valleys, and snow-capped mountains like The Humantay and Salkantay. Once at Capuliyoc, we will have breakfast and then meet our trekking team. Our tour guide will coordinate with them and pack all our equipment onto the horses.

After breakfast, we will descend for 3 to 4 hours until we arrive at the campsite of Chiquisca (1,900m / 6,270ft), where we will have lunch. After lunch, our hike continues for another 4 hours until we arrive at Playa Rosalina, and then to Santa Rosa, where our first campsite is located. We will get accommodated and have a nice dinner.

    • It is advisable and important that you arrive in Cusco at least 2 days prior to the trek, in order to acclimatize to the altitude. The city of Cusco is located at 3,400 meters (11,150 ft) above sea level so you may feel slightly ill or dizzy due to altitude sickness, known as “soroche”.

A few tips on dos and don’ts for acclimatizing in Peru:

        • Do not eat heavy food the day before traveling to Cusco.
        • Make sure you drink between 6-8 glasses of water the days before your trip and during your stay in Cusco.
        • Once you arrive at your hotel, lie down a few minutes before going out to explore the city.
        • Once you are ready to go out and explore the city, try not to become agitated climbing stairs or walking fast. The best thing is to enjoy every corner of Cusco with calm and respect.
    • The starting point of your Choquequirao tour is Cusco. To get there, most people fly into Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, also known as Cusco Airport (CUZ). From there, head to your accommodation in the city.

Make sure to stay in Cusco at least two days prior to your trip, as it will help with acclimatization to the altitude, but you’re also starting your adventure very early in the morning of Day 1. Your guide will come pick you up early in the morning of Day 1 at your hotel.
