Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

  • Three days, two nights, a small group of women, and female guides the whole way. The rhythm is loose and friendly. We meet in the town of Mt. Shasta, shuttle to the trailhead together, and hike in to our first camp near a lake. Day two is the heart of the trip: ridgelines, meadows, and more alpine water, mostly between 6,500 and 7,500 ft (1,981-2,286 m), carrying packs of 35 to 40 lb (16-18 kg). On the last morning, there's an optional climb of Mount Eddy at 9,026 ft (2,751 m), the highest of the Klamath Mountains, before we hike out and shuttle back to town. Tents, group cooking gear, first aid kit, water filter, and permits are all included.

    • We gather at our location in the town of Mt. Shasta, sort gear, and shoulder our packs before the shuttle ride out to the trailhead. From there, we step onto the Pacific Crest Trail and start hiking toward our first camp near an alpine lake, taking it at a pace that lets everyone settle into the weight of a full pack. Your guides share tips on pacing, footcare, and camp routine along the way, and once we arrive we set up our two-person tents and get dinner going. With Mount Shasta on the horizon and no one else around, there’s time to relax before the stars come out and the hot cocoa gets poured.

      Distance: 4-7 mi (6.4-11.3 km)
Accommodation: Two-person tents at camp near an alpine lake

Hikers resting on a large fallen log among pine trees, with backpacks nearby and mountains behind in Mount Shasta
    • Today is pure trail time. We follow the PCT through mountain meadows, out along open ridgelines, and past the shores of clear alpine lakes, mostly holding between 6,500 and 7,500 ft (1,981-2,286 m). This is the part where you start to see the world the way a thru-hiker does, with long views in every direction and Mount Shasta looming over it all. Your guides talk through the plants, animals, geology, and history of this country as we go, and answer anything you’ve been wondering about wilderness travel. We reach camp with plenty of daylight left for swimming, napping, or just sitting by the water, then share dinner under another big sky.

      Distance: 4-7 mi (6.4-11.3 km)
Accommodation: Two-person tents at camp near an alpine lake

Three hikers with trekking poles and backpacks climb a rocky slope above a forested valley and dark lake in Mount Shasta
    • Those who feel like one more challenge can join the optional climb of Mount Eddy, at 9,026 ft (2,751 m) the highest summit in the Klamath Mountains, with Shasta filling the view across the valley. Afterwards we break camp, pack up, and hike back along the trail to the trailhead, swapping stories from the past three days. The shuttle takes us back to the town of Mt. Shasta, where the trip wraps up with clean clothes, cold drinks, and a group that doesn’t feel much like strangers anymore. If you’re staying on, your guides can point you toward places to eat and rest in town.

      Distance: 4-7 mi (6.4-11.3 km)

Hikers with backpacks walk a forest trail toward a view of distant blue mountain ridges under clear sky in Mount Shasta
    • Included:

        • An experienced, local woman backpacking guide with extensive knowledge of the area
        • 3-day backpacking trip on the Pacific Crest Trail by Mount Shasta (3 days of hiking)
        • Accommodation for 2 nights in two-person tents at camps near alpine lakes (double occupancy)
        • Professional instruction and guiding throughout
        • Group cooking gear, group first aid kit, and a water filter
        • Campsite and permit fees
        • Round-trip transportation from the guides’ location in the town of Mt. Shasta to the trailhead and back

      Not included:

        • Transportation to California
        • Accommodation before and after the trip in the town of Mount Shasta
        • Meals
        • Personal backpacking gear and clothing
        • Anything not mentioned in the ‘Included’ section above
        • Insurance — recommended, available at checkout
        • Guide gratuities — optional
    • In order to join this PCT Mount Shasta backpacking tour for women, good fitness is required, though no previous backpacking experience is needed. The most you’ll hike within a day is up to 7 mi (11.3 km), carrying your own pack weighing 35 to 40 lb (16-18 kg) over varied terrain.

Nearly all of the hiking happens at elevations between 6,500 and 7,500 ft (1,981-2,286 m), and the optional ascent of Mount Eddy tops out at 9,026 ft (2,751 m), so the thinner air will make the effort feel bigger than it would at sea level. Your guides strongly encourage following a training regimen in the months before the trip, since your overall fitness is what will make the days enjoyable rather than a grind. Walking with a loaded pack on hills is the best preparation you can do.
