With three days of leisurely guided walks, we’ll explore stunning landscapes, from the snow-capped Sierra Nevada to blooming almond orchards. We’ll transfer to the Barranco Oscuro vineyard where we’ll start our walk down the Contraviesa mountain range. Walking downhill all day, we will pass through almond orchards in full bloom with snow-capped Sierra Nevada as the backdrop. Later on, we’re walking back to the hotel.

A 20-minute transfer from the hotel takes us to the village of Juviles. We will join the GR7 trail and follow it down the spectacular gorge of El Fuerte. We’ll visit the place of the longest siege in the Moorish conquest, and after that, we will walk through the village of Timar, and then contour along an ancient Acequia (water canal) for lunch at the village of Lobras. In the afternoon, we’ll walk back to the hotel.

On Day 4, we’ll walk from the hotel along a dry river bed which takes us to the small village of Yator, where we’ll have a coffee break. From here, we’ll walk uphill on a vehicle track to the hamlet of Monte Negro before we get to the village of Yegen, where we can see the 1920s home of the Hispanista Gerald Brennan. Later on, we’ll transfer back to the hotel for a nice dinner.

It’s our last day on the tour. After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to the airport in Malaga and say our goodbyes.

Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.
The weather is usually dry and sunny at this time of the year. The temperatures will be good for walking, around 18°C (64.4°F) in the sunshine, but at night it will be quite colder.

The starting point of your winter walking holiday in Spain is Malaga. To get there, most people fly into Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP / LEMG). From there, you’ll be transferred to the hotel in Cádiar in the Alpujarra region.
Once you’re there, you will meet your guide at a predetermined time. More info will be provided by the guides before the start of the trip.
