Rock Odysseys, Zion Guide Hub
  • If you want to experience as much of Zion as possible in a single day, this adventure is for you. Join an experienced guide on an extended 9-10 hour technical slot canyon tour complete with 9-12 rappels. Then, choose between a 165-ft (50 m) rappel in Water Canyon or the fluted rappel lines of Birch Hollow!

    • 57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.

We also expect clients to respect local regulations and take measures to protect themselves, their guides, and the communities they’re traveling to. For more information on COVID-19 measures in Utah, please refer to these official US COVID-19 guidelines for international travel.

Please contact us if you have any questions or require further information. We are happy to provide you with the most up-to-date information!.

    • What you get on this adventure:

        • An experienced, local guide with extensive knowledge of the area
        • A half or full day of canyoning depending on your chosen itinerary
        • Climbing ropes, helmets, and all technical climbing gear
        • Lunch on full-days
        • Transportation from Springdale to the trailhead and back
        • Action photos during the tour

      What’s not included:

        • Transportation to Springdale
        • Accommodations
        • Lunch on half-days (a lunch pack including a sandwich, chips, cookie, and a drink is available for $14 per person)
    • For the standard Half-Day and Full-Day tours, if you can climb a ladder, you’re good to go. Being in good shape is always a plus but far from necessary. Canyoning is all about using good movement technique rather than traversing cliffs and valleys using brute strength. To ensure you have a fun day, your guide will choose routes that best suit your skill and fitness level.

The Ultimate and Off-Road tours are more strenuous and require excellent fitness levels. You’ll be canyoning for 7-10 hours, doing an hour or two of difficult hiking, as well as some scrambling.

    • For the standard Half-Day and Full-Day tours, no prior climbing, rappelling, or scrambling experience is necessary. Whether you’ve never donned a harness or you’re a seasoned hiker and climber, a guide will help you meet your individual objectives. Above all, your instructor’s number one priority is your safety. As long as you listen to the given instructions, you’ll succeed in completing your tour.

The Ultimate and Off-Road tours are more advanced, so some canyoning and rappelling experience is recommended.

    • All technical climbing equipment will be provided by your guiding service. However, if you have your own gear, feel free to bring it. You’ll need:

        • Helmet
        • Harness with a locking carabiner, belay device, and chalk bag
        • Ropes
        • Climbing hardware (quickdraws, cam devices, stoppers, etc.)

Here’s a list of the equipment we suggest you bring:

        • Wear comfortable riding or athletic clothing, preferably moisture-wicking or synthetic material
        • Sturdy hiking boots or close-toed trail running shoes
        • Breathable outside layer or jacket
        • Sunglasses
        • Plenty of water, water bottle, or hydration bladder
        • Daypack with snacks and/or lunch
        • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, toilet paper, etc.)

Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

    • Group sizes and prices:

        • These tours are not private. For the group tours, the usual guest-to-guide ratio is 4:1.
        • It takes a minimum of 2 people for these tours to operate.
        • Cost is per person and it doesn’t decrease as the group grows.

Canyoning tours in Zion can be arranged for bigger groups. Contact us prior to booking.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors as young as 4 may be permitted to go canyoning on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

If your group has canyoneers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • To get to Zion National Park, most people fly into Las Vegas McCarran International Airport 2.5 hours away from the park. From there, you can rent a car and take a 2,5-3 hour drive to Springdale, Utah. Alternatively, you can take a bus to St. George, UT, and take a shuttle or cab to Springdale. Due to National Park restrictions, all canyoning trips are located in amazing places outside of Zion National Park.

Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, your guide will suggest the best place to meet, whether that’s at the guide shop in Springdale or a predetermined location.
