Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

  • This four-day hut-to-hut circuit takes us around the Petit and Grand Muveran, two of the more distinctive peaks in the Swiss Alps, on trails that stay well clear of the region's crowds. Starting and ending at Jorasse, above Ovronnaz, we spend three nights in mountain huts, each with its own character; one is a working farm, another a cozy auberge, the last a refuge with sweeping views toward Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva. Along the way, we cross open pastures, climb rocky passes, and cover some of the Alps' more overlooked terrain. A certified guide leads throughout, with breakfast, dinner, and packed lunches included every day.

    • We kick things off by taking the cable car to Jorasse, where alpine pastures open up around us and the mountain feels all yours. The trail makes a steady climb then winds across rugged landscape around the Muverans massif. Wildflowers, cowbells, and big mountain views set the scene. By late afternoon, we reach Gîte de l’Alpage de Dorbon, a working farm where your bunk is ready and dinner is homegrown. Shared stories, mountain air, and a real sense of arrival cap our first day.

      Meals: Packed lunch, dinner
      Distance: 11.3 km (7 mi)
      Hiking time: 5 hours
      Elevation: +882 m (+2,894 ft) / -863 m (-2,831 ft)
Accommodation: Gîte de l’Alpage de Dorbon (shared dormitory)

      uphill hike in switzerland
    • After a farm breakfast, we head deeper into quiet alpine terrain. The day is long and varied—expect forests, open ridgelines, and steadily changing views. Our route dips and rolls before a big descent towards Pont de Nant. By evening, we arrive at the Auberge de Pont de Nant, a rustic favorite tucked into a valley known for its wildflowers. Feet up, pack off, and time to relax—this is how you settle into hut-to-hut rhythm.

      Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner
      Distance: 16.1 km (10 mi)
Hiking time: 6 hours 45 minutes
      Elevation: +785 m (+2,575 ft) / -1,497 m (-4,911 ft)
Accommodation: Auberge de Pont de Nant (shared dormitory)

beautiful day and hiking in switzerland
    • A big ascent kicks off our day as we leave the valley floor and climb towards the high peaks. The trail is steady but spectacular, with the Petit and Grand Muveran coming into full focus. Alpine crossings reward us with sweeping southern views—on a clear morning you can spot Mont Blanc and even down to Lake Geneva. We end at Cabane de la Tourche, a modern hut perched above the valley, where the sunset is something you’ll remember.

      Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner
      Distance: 10.7 km (6.6 mi)
Hiking time: 5 hours 30 minutes
      Elevation: +1,196 m (+3,924 ft) / -257 m (-843 ft)
Accommodation: Cabane de la Tourche (shared dormitory)

one dog and a hiker in the swiss alps
    • After a final mountain breakfast, we start our descent along a narrow trail with a few short protected sections. The scenery here is wild, with huge valleys dropping away and a real sense of crossing big country. After looping back to Jorasse, there’s a moment to celebrate—you’ve completed the Tour des Muverans circuit. If you want, it’s just a quick transfer to the thermal baths at Lavey-les-Bains; a well-earned soak after days on the move.

      Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch
      Distance: 17 km (10.6 mi)
Hiking time: 4 hours 45 minutes
      Elevation: +782 m (+2,566 ft) / -1,014 m (-3,327 ft)

You’ll be on your feet for about 5 to 7 hours a day on mountain trails, carrying your overnight essentials between huts. Expect steep and rocky terrain, sustained climbs and demanding descents, a boulder field, possible lingering snow, and some exposed sections, a few of them secured with cables. Being sure-footed matters as much as fitness here. Your guide will assess conditions and adapt the route where necessary.

    • This plan is for hikers with good basic fitness and some mountain experience. Over 16 weeks, the goal is to build the stamina for four days in a row, strengthen your legs for long descents (Day 2 drops nearly 1,500 m), and get confident on uneven ground. Aim for about 4 sessions a week: one long weekend hike, one hill or stair session, and two strength or cardio sessions, plus at least one full rest day.

        • Weeks 1-4 — 3-4 hour hikes on gentle to moderate hills, with controlled descents
        • Weeks 5-8 — 4-5 hour hikes with 500-800 m of ascent and descent
        • Weeks 9-12 — 5-7 hour hikes with 800-1,100 m of ascent and descent, plus a 2-day hiking weekend
        • Weeks 13-15 — one 7-8 hour hike, and on another weekend, two hikes in a row (e.g. 5-6 hours, then 4-5 hours)
        • Week 16 — short, easy hikes so you arrive rested

No mountains nearby? Use stairs (up and down), hills, bridges, or an inclined treadmill, and practice slow step-downs for the long descents. Twice a week, add step-ups, step-downs, squats, lunges, calf raises, and single-leg balance. None of this fully replaces rocky or exposed trails, so try to do at least one mountain hike on rocky terrain before the trip.

On longer hikes, wear your hiking boots and carry a pack close to what you’ll bring on the tour. Practice eating and drinking regularly, pacing yourself on climbs, and descending on tired legs. If you’re unsure about your fitness or exposed terrain, contact us before departure.

    • The starting point of your Tour de Muverans hike is Jorasse, at the bottom station of the Ovronnaz cable car. To get there, most people fly into Geneva Airport (GVA). From there, you can take a shuttle service, public transport via Sion or Martigny, or rent a car to reach Ovronnaz.
