  • Discover the renowned Fimmvorduhals trail, celebrated globally as a premier hiking experience, and the breathtaking Thorsmork, fondly dubbed “The Land of the Gods” by locals. Journey between the mighty Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers, encountering majestic mountains, ancient lava fields, historic landmarks, 26 cascading waterfalls, volcanic craters, glacial rivers, and verdant valleys. Follow in the footsteps of adventurers past and add your stone to the cairns on Iceland’s most legendary trails, enveloped in awe-inspiring highland beauty.

    • Hopefully, you’ve had a good rest and a hearty breakfast because we’re about to begin a 3-day adventure on some of the best trails Iceland has to offer! After pick-up in Reykjavik or South Iceland, we’ll head to the starting point of the Fimmvorduhals trail in Skogar. Here, we’ll be greeted by the majestic Skogafoss, the first of 26 waterfalls we’ll encounter on the “Waterfall Trail” portion of the trek. Along the way, we’ll get up close to glaciers, volcanic craters, historic sites, lava fields, and rugged mountain ranges, all while hiking between and over glaciers.

After a day of breathtaking exploration, we’ll arrive in the Husadalur valley of Thorsmork, where we’ll settle into cozy mountain cabins or, for those seeking a touch of luxury, glamping tents. After tackling the most challenging day of the trip, we’ll unwind by the campfire, enjoy a BBQ, and swap stories with fellow adventurers.

    • We’ve now arrived in what local outdoor enthusiasts describe as the best playground in Iceland, offering unspoiled natural beauty away from the more congested tourist areas. After a well-deserved rest, it’s time to refuel with a hearty breakfast. Today’s exploration will take us through woods and up to stunning panoramic views over ice plateaus, lush valleys, rivers, and mountains. We’ll be summiting the Valahnúkur mountain, which will offer incredible views of the Thorsmork nature reserve.

After a day of exploring, we’ll return to base for a relaxing afternoon and evening around the campfire. If our appetite for adventure isn’t yet satisfied, we’ll head out on our favorite “elven trails” around the area, sharing a few folklore stories about the elves that are said to inhabit these lands.

    • The last hike will take us to the Tindfjöll Mountains, where we’ll traverse meandering trails across their steep slopes, eventually reaching the expansive Tindfjallaslétta plateau. This flat plateau offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Continuing along the plateau, the trail leads us to the Stangarháls Ridge. Here, we’ll begin a steep descent down a rugged path to the Krossá riverbed. The descent offers spectacular views, showcasing the diverse terrain of Thorsmork.

Once we reach the bottom of the valley, we’ll enjoy a tranquil walk back to base camp through the picturesque Langidalur and Húsadalur woods. This easy stroll provides a peaceful end to our hike, allowing us to soak in the serene beauty of the forested paths. After three incredible days of exploring, we’ll say our farewells to this Icelandic gem, hopefully with lasting memories. We’ll be picked up at base camp at 4:00pm for a bus ride back to civilization, with drop-offs available along South Iceland and in the Reykjavik area.
