  • This 7-day cycling holiday traces four of South Australia's greatest wine regions on smooth, purpose-built rail trails. Starting and finishing in Adelaide, we ride the Barossa Trail, the Riesling Trail through Clare Valley, the Amy Gillett Bikeway in the Adelaide Hills, and the Shiraz Trail in McLaren Vale at a genuinely unhurried pace. A dedicated support vehicle travels with the group throughout, luggage is transferred between stops, and each riding day includes winery stops, gourmet lunches, and quality restaurant evenings. Groups are capped at 10, accommodation is great, and the only thing more scenic than the trails is what's in the glass at the end of them.

    • We arrive in Adelaide and transfer to our hotel in the city center. After settling in, we meet the group for a 2-course welcome dinner at a local restaurant. It’s a chance to get acquainted with fellow riders and get excited about the week ahead.

    • This South Australia cycling holiday is designed for recreational cyclists of all experience levels. Expect to cycle between 20 and 35 km (12–22 mi) per day on flat to gently rolling, traffic-free rail trails. No prior cycle touring experience is needed.

If you’re comfortable riding a bike for 2–3 hours at a relaxed pace, you’re well prepared. Luggage is transferred between stops, so only a small day pack is needed on the bike.

    • Bikes are not included in the base tour price but are available to hire at the time of booking. The hire fleet includes hybrid-style bikes equipped with 27 gears, a rear rack and bag, water bottle holders, and a soft saddle.

E-bikes are also available, a great choice if you’d prefer a more relaxed ride or want to join without worrying about keeping pace. Both step-through and regular-style e-bikes are on offer. If you have any specific requirements, flag them when booking. Helmets are included with all hire options.

Prefer to bring your own? BYO bikes are welcome. A hybrid-style or hardtail mountain bike works best, as some sections of the route run on hard-packed gravel. BYO helmets required.

    • The standard hire option is the Trek Dual Sport, a flat-bar hybrid with a lightweight aluminium frame, front suspension, and 700c wheels that handle both smooth roads and hard-packed gravel well. All bikes come fitted with a rear rack, small pannier bag, and water bottle holder, with pickup, drop-off, and an on-tour repair warranty included.

E-bikes are Velectrix Urban pedal-assist models, available in step-through and crossbar styles, with four levels of assist and up to 60 km (37 mi) of battery range per charge.

    • Clothing:

        • Comfortable clothing suitable for cycling
