  • This tour is designed for travelers who want to experience the most popular trekking route to Machu Picchu without committing the time needed for the longer classic hikes. Hike the amazing Inca Trail, admire the local flora and fauna, and visit the magnificent Machu Picchu. Get ready for a scenic 4-hour uphill hike to the famous Wiñaywayna ruins, where you will stop to marvel at the ancient agricultural terraces. From there, you’re only an hour’s walk away from Machu Picchu! Enjoy freshly prepared meals, take a break, and enjoy another day of exploring Machu Picchu!

    • We’ll pick you up at your hotel around 5.30 am and go to the Ollantaytambo train station. Enjoy a very picturesque train ride for 2.5 hours until we reach KM 104—the start of the trail taking us to Wiñay Wayna. Shortly after crossing the bridge over the Rio Urubamba, we’ll visit the site of Chachabamba (6,725 ft / 2,050 m). The buildings, water channels, and fountains suggest that this used to be an important religious site, as well as the gate house guarding this entrance to Machu Picchu. Then we’ll hike upwards for about 5 miles / 8 km (approximately 4 hours). The trail is well established, and one of the easiest treks around the Cusco region, but you still need to have a reasonable level of fitness to complete it. After the upwards hike, enjoy the beautiful and unforgettable views of Machu Picchu’s Citadel, after which you will travel down the trail for around an hour to Machu Picchu and enjoy the sunset. From Machu Picchu, take a bus to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night.

      Walking distance:  8 miles / 13 km (6-7 hours)
      Meals: Box lunch

    • We’ll take the first bus up to Machu Picchu, and once we’re there, we’ll do a 2.5 hours long tour. Learn about the types of constructions, the engineering of the terraces, and the most important places of Machu Picchu (and how they were used). Afterwards, you can explore the magical city by yourself. If you have the energy, you can climb Huayna Picchu (2,720 m / 8,890 ft) as well (entrance not included). There is also an option to visit the Temple of the Moon or the Inca Bridge. Take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes. The trains leave between 2.30pm and 6pm, depending on Peru Rail availability.

Note: An extra night in Aguas Calientes can be arranged upon request. This option is very popular as it allows more time to explore Machu Picchu, but if you visit Machu Picchu on another day you need to purchase the ticket again.

      Walking distance: 5.4 miles / 9 km (2-3 hours)
