    • As you arrive at the Tromso Airport, your guides will pick you up and transfer you to the sailboat where you’ll be welcomed by the friendly crew. Check and store your gear, explore the boat and get comfortable in your cabin. As your group gathers, you’ll retrieve any needed rental gear, review the boat, and receive a safety briefing by your guides and skipper. Once you’re all set, get ready to set sail towards your first destination and share a meal with your group.

      An overview of the interior
    • Over the course of the next six days, you’ll spend most of your time skiing! Your guides have the knowledge and flexibility to select and change spots according to prevailing weather and snow conditions. After breakfast and assessment, you’ll have a say about the final choice of the spot for the day and head out for 4-8 hours of ski touring! Once you’re done for the day, return to the boat and enjoy nourishing après ski snacks. Relax and rest prior to dinner and sail on to the next day’s spot.

      Powdery slopes of Lyngen Alps
    • After six days of ski touring and getting to know your group, you’ll arrive at the port in the morning and disembark. Take a few last pictures, exchange contact information and head to the airport!

Every day, you will travel up to 8 hours, with ascents from 4 to 9km and peaks ranging from 800m to 1500m. Slope angles are mostly between 25-30 degrees over glacier plateaus, but you can reach as much as 40 degrees and deep powder if you opt for gorges and the steeper lines. All participants should feel comfortable on black level resort runs as you will be skiing on glaciated terrain with variable snow conditions. Experience with sailing is not necessary.

    • To get to your sailing yacht in Tromsø Harbor, fly into Tromsø Airport. Keep in mind that there are no direct flights to Tromso from the USA. Most international flights to Tromsø go via Oslo and there are direct flights from London-Gatwick, Oulu/ Luleå, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Once you land in Tromsø, it takes about 10-20 minutes to get to the harbor. You can either…

        • Get a taxi
        • Take the express coach (Flybussen) — step off at Scandic Ishavshotel and walk 200 m (650 ft) to the harbor (this bus might be more comfortable than the regular bus if you’re carrying gear)
        • Take the bus no. 42 or 40 — 22-minute ride + 5-10 minute walk

The exact location of the Varuna boat may change on short notice. Prior to departure, you’ll receive a WhatsApp message from the crew with the exact location. Please keep in mind that the boat will not be ready to host you before 5 pm, though you may drop off your luggage from 1 pm onwards. Please contact the crew in advance if you plan on doing so or if you are delayed.

Should you need some last-minute gear or personal items, there’s a sports shop, a pharmacy, and a supermarket at a walking distance from the harbor.
