Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

  • Our 7-day Outer Hebrides photography tour pairs short, relaxed hikes with hands-on tuition from two professional photographers. We pick you up in Inverness and travel by road and ferry to the Isle of Lewis. For the next six nights, we stay at a private 19th-century hunting lodge set among 43,000 acres of Scottish wilderness. The lodge is rented exclusively for our group and comes fully catered: everyone has their own room, and three meals a day and all drinks are included. The weather and the light shape each day, from sunrise at the Callanish Stones to the beaches of Harris and the wild Atlantic coast. Evenings are for reviewing and editing the day’s shots by the fire.

    • We’ll pick you up after an early breakfast and drive to the port of Ullapool for the 10am ferry to the Isle of Lewis. We’ll arrive in the town of Stornoway and get some lunch, before heading to our first beach to get the photography underway. After assessing what experience everyone has, we’ll start capturing the stunning sea stacks and motion of the ocean as the waves wash around them. When the light starts to fade, we’ll head to our lodge and get settled in before having our welcome dinner and setting out the plans for the coming days.

      Meals: Lunch, dinner
      Accommodation: Private hunting lodge

Travel the Outer Hebrides and meet the group — Hiking in Inverness
    • We’ll get an early start this morning to witness and photograph the sun rising over the Callanish Stones – a 3000 year old stone circle. You’ll be shown how to control exposure as you shoot straight into the sun as it peeks between the silhouettes stones. You’ll be shown how to get hands-on with composition and the impoortance of choosing the right focal length. It’s then back to the lodge for breakfast and a rest, before heading out to another location in the afternoon. It could be a remote lighthouse, a golden sandy bay or rugged coastine with sea arches – we let the weather dictate the agenda, but we’ll always get you in the right places for the best light. The pace is relaxed and the walking is relatively gentle, but you’ll learn the importance of working quickly to make the most of the fast-changing Hebridean light. We will discuss all the challenges and lessons of the day over another amazing dinner by the fire.

Sunrise shoot and island explortion — Hiking in Inverness
    • Today belongs to the beaches. After a hearty breakfast and the prepartion of packed lunches, we head off the west of the island, where most of the best beaches are found. Lusketyre beach is often voted in the top 5 beaches in the world by publications such as National Geographic, but your guides will tell you that it’s not even in the top 5 beaches on the island! That’s not because Luskentyre isn’t great – it’s just that the others are even better! We’ll spend a full day exploring the best, witnessing how the tide, surf and light all influence how you approach each one with a camera.

Beaches Hebridean light — Hiking in Inverness
    • As well as the golden sand beaches, the isles of Harris and Lewis contain some amazing rugged coastline – peppered with sea stacks and natural arches, all begging to be photographed. We will explore the most dramatic coastal sections, hoping for some inclement weather to whip of the waves and maybe throw in the occasional rainbow here and there. Your guides will show you how to capture the energy of the sea in a still, two-dimensional manner. We’ll have lunch on location and will do a couple of cliff top hikes to reach more remote sections which few people see.

The wild Atlantic waters — Hiking in Inverness
    • The Hebrides have their own identity, which is largely due to the cuture and its unique traditions. Today we will look at storytelling with a camera, as we go in search of subjects which are unique to these islands. We will arrange a private photo shoot with a weaver as he works on his loom to make Harris Tweed – a fabric which by law, can only be made in the Outer Hebrides. Abandoned houses, boat wrecks and even Highland cattle will all be on our list as we explore the lesser visited areas to uncover the life of the locals.

Island culture and traditions — Hiking in Inverness
    • Having to work around the weather means that we may lose half a day here and there where we choose to stay indoors to review and edit photos rather than get wet by taking new ones. This final day is kept as a spare day to visit any locations we’ve yet to cover. However, if we get lucky with the weather and have ticked off everything as planned, we will return to everyone’s favourite locations for a chance to shoot them in different light, hopefully improving on what has already been captured. With your new knowledge, photographing subjects for a second time can be incredibly rewarding, as you can avoid any mistakes already identified. This is what learning is all about. We’ll end the day with a grand farewell dinner and recounting all the events and memories from the week so far.

Final full day to reshoot the favourites — Hiking in Inverness
    • After our final breakfast, we’ll pack up and leave the lodge for the last time. On the way to the ferry, we’ll have time for one more photo shoot – this time of another of the island’s traditional dwellings. We’ll then board the ferry back to the mainland and have lunch on board. We expect to arrive back in Inverness around 4pm. From here, you can arrange to extend your stay in the city or book onward travel to your next destination.

      Meals: Breakfast and lunch
