Today we spend the day exploring the iconic Lake O’Hara,one of the most celebrated and carefully protected alpine areas in the Canadian Rockies. Depending on the group and conditions, we’ll choose from some of the area’s most stunning routes: the serene shores of the Lake O’Hara trail, the wild beauty of Opabin Lake, the dramatic heights of Lake Oesa, or—if the stars align—the legendary Alpine Circuit, a route that earns its reputation at every turn. Wherever the day takes us, you’re in for something extraordinary.

Plain of Six Glaciers follows the lakeshore into a dramatic glacial cirque, with seracs and avalanche paths towering overhead and a stop at the historic teahouse. Expect moderate to challenging day hikes averaging 8-14 km (5-9 miles) per day with 500-800 m (1,600-2,600 ft) of elevation gain. Trails include well-maintained routes with some steep sections, rocky footing, and sustained climbs. You’ll hike for 4–6 hours a day at a relaxed, guided pace, with breaks for photos, snacks, and scenic lunches. Prior hiking experience—especially in mountain terrain like the Canadian Rockies, Alps, or Pacific Northwest—is recommended but not required. Your ACMG-certified guide can always adjust the pace or route difficulty to match the group’s comfort and conditions.

The starting point of your luxury holidays in the Canadian Rockies is Canmore, Alberta—but airport transfers from Calgary International Airport (YYC) to Canmore—are included in the price! So if you’re flying in, you’ll meet your guide at the airport, who will drive you to your accommodation—about a 1 hour and 30 minute journey—where you’ll stay for the duration of the tour.
