This 15-day sailing voyage covers 710 nautical miles (1,315 km/817 mi) of Norway's Arctic coast, from Tromsø down through the Lofoten Islands to Bergen. We sail aboard a small expedition sailboat with room for just four guests, crewed by a professional skipper, chef, and guide. All meals, onboard accommodation, safety equipment, and shore excursions by dinghy are included—we just show up in Tromsø and step aboard.
We meet in Tromsø, the unofficial capital of the Arctic and well north of the Arctic Circle. After checking and stowing our gear, we settle into our cabins and get a welcome briefing from the skipper, chef, and guide before setting off on the passage south to Bergen.

In order to join this Lofoten sailing trip, basic fitness is required and no previous sailing experience is necessary. The voyage covers up to 120 nm (222 km/138 mi) in a single day at sea.
Shore excursions are made by dinghy, so you’ll want to be comfortable stepping in and out of a small boat, sometimes onto rocky or uneven landings. Arctic weather can add its own difficulty—expect cold, wind, and swell on the longer open-water days.
September puts us well north of the Arctic Circle just as nights start getting dark enough for aurora activity. This is a good season for a chance at seeing the Northern Lights, especially during the Lyngen Alps stretch at the start of the voyage. That said, the aurora is a natural phenomenon and sightings can’t be guaranteed—clear, dark skies and solar activity both have to line up on the night.

The price for this Lofoten sailing trip is based on double-berth cabins, but a single occupancy cabin can be arranged at an additional fee—but just for the Intrepido boat. Leave a note at checkout if interested.
Due to very limited space onboard and only two cabins, a single occupancy cabin is not available on the KÉRABAN LE TÊTU.
The starting point of your Lofoten sailing trip is Tromsø. To get there, most people fly into Tromsø Airport (TOS). From there, you can take a shuttle service, public transport, or rent a car to reach Tromsø’s harbor. You will meet your guide and crew in the harbor in the afternoon—detailed meeting time and location will be confirmed after booking.
