Tenerife Guided Walks
  • Enjoy a challenging, but infinitely rewarding half-day hike at 2,000 m (6,500 ft) above sea level! Ascend up the Caldera Rim, where you’ll be greeted by dramatic volcanic landscapes. Marvel at the panoramas and unique rock formations before descending down a sparse pine forest full of scenic overlooks. A knowledgeable guide will accompany you, keeping you safe and teaching you about the long-reaching history of the area.

    • 57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.

We also expect clients to respect local regulations and take measures to protect themselves, their guides, and the communities they’re traveling to. For more information on COVID-19 measures in Tenerife, please refer to the CDC’s COVID-19 travel information for the Canary Islands.

Irrespective of the current COVID-19 situation in Tenerife and the Canary Islands, your guides require you to wear a mask in the vehicle at all times.

Please contact us if you have any questions or require further information. We are happy to provide you with the most up-to-date information!

    • What you get on this adventure:

        • An experienced, local hiking guide with extensive knowledge of the area
        • A half-day of hiking
        • Transportation from Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas to the trailhead and back

      What’s not included:

        • Transportation to Tenerife
        • Accommodations
        • Personal hiking equipment
    • To participate in these hikes, you need to have some prior hiking experience and decent fitness levels. You will be hiking for 5 hours, covering around 12 km (7,5 miles) per tour with 375-500 m (1,230 – 1,650 ft) of altitude change. The Caldera Rim hike is especially challenging, as you’ll be hiking variable terrain mostly above 2,000 m (6,500 ft). Keep in mind that the summer can get very hot, and you’ll be carrying a pack loaded with the thing you’ll need throughout the day.

    • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

        • Day pack large enough to carry all the items listed (around a 25-40L bag)
        • Hiking poles — optional
        • Water bottle or hydration bladder (1L capacity)
        • Lightweight hiking boots or shoes
        • Shorts and a T-shirt for the warmer seasons
        • Spare clothes
        • Waterproof rain jacket
        • Sunhat
        • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, toilet paper, etc.)
        • A sandwich or snack
        • Headlamp or flashlight
        • Sunglasses
        • Camera — optional (but recommended)

Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

    • Group sizes and prices:

        • For these adventures, the usual client to guide ratio is 5:1.
        • The cost does not decrease as the group grows.

Hiking in Tenerife can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors between the ages of 7 and 18 may be permitted to join the hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.
        • Minors under the age of 7 aren’t allowed to participate in these tours.

If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • To get to these tours in Tenerife, most people fly into Tenerife South Airport. From there, you can take a 15-20 min bus, shuttle, or taxi ride to the Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas areas.

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel or resort in Los Cristianos or the Playa de las Americas and take you to the trailhead.
