Deposits

When booking a trip, you can either pay for it in full or reserve your spot with a 30% deposit. The remaining 70% of the trip price is to be paid 90 days prior to departure, at the latest.

Cancellations

After 48 hours, booking fees are non-refundable in all cases. You can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options:

Beginning in Rome, you'll ride around Piombino and have the opportunity to discover two additional MTB spots around the medieval town of Massa Marittima before setting sail for Elba. Everything else remains unchanged—you'll enjoy an all-inclusive experience complete with memorable accommodations, mouthwatering meals, and seamless logistics. Spend a week e-mountain biking and sailing in Italy—it's an experience you'll never want to end!

    • Welcome to the Eternal City! We suggest arriving at least one day before the start of the tour (Day 1) to recuperate if flying from afar and to make the entire experience hassle-free. Make sure to take a stroll in the city center of Rome, discovering incredible historical sites literally every step of the way. Your e-MTB and sailing adventure starts the next day, so make sure to get a good night’s sleep.

    • Begin your day by meeting your Tuscany MTB guide and fellow adventurers in the morning. Your journey kicks off with an energizing espresso shot (or two) to ignite your senses before traveling from Rome to the ancient Tuscan town of Massa Maritima. Nestled amid lush hills, this historic town is enveloped by a network of rolling trails perfectly suited for e-MTB, including a renowned canyon trail. Afterward, indulge in a delectable lunch at a rustic agriturismo amidst the Tuscan countryside, providing you with the necessary fuel for the afternoon. Your day culminates in the Baratti Nature Reserve, where you’ll find your welcoming, family-run agriturismo, serving as your base for the next couple of days.

    • Following a quintessential Tuscan breakfast (with a foamy cappuccino), embark on your first major ride, departing directly from our lodging. Our goal for the day is to ride Monte Arsenti’s extensive network of singletrack trails developed by our team of local guides specifically for e-MTBs. Your guide will ensure you ride the best trails, optimizing the fun and time spent traversing its various slopes. Back at the accommodation, there’ll be time to swim and relax by the private pool before returning to Massa for another exquisite dinner at a local Osteria.

    • Today it’s time for an archaeological ride! As you get used to life in Tuscany and its dolce vita pace, the adventures will take you deeper into the region for a day-long historical ride to the Lago dell’Accesa Archaeological Park. The area, known for its archaeological significance with discoveries of ancient settlements and artifacts, is also home to one of the cleanest lakes, perfect for a refreshing swim. Following a morning of exhilarating riding on fun and flowy trails, eat lunch at a picturesque agriturismo, enjoying their fresh produce to fuel the journey back.This evening’s dinner will be a pizza night in the historical piazza of Massa Marittima.

    • Your day starts with enjoying breakfast and enjoying the views of a lush vineyard that produces the ‘original super Tuscan’ Sassicaia red wine. Following that, you’ll embark on a riveting day on Castagneto Coastal Park, a realm of sun-kissed trails leading to the shore. After spending the morning on the trails, it’s time for lunch. How about a succulent Bistecca alla Fiorentina? Your day will end with a wine-tasting spectacle at a scenic vineyard – a fitting finale to an epic day. Arterward, retreat to your bed to get some rest for the trails that await you tomorrow.

    • After enjoying another morning at the agriturismo and sipping an authentic, frothy cappuccino that awakens your senses, it’s time to embark on the day’s adventure. Today, the trails lead you along Piombino’s picturesque coastline, meandering through rolling hills and past centuries-old architecture. As the day unfolds, an after-ride Aperol spritz awaits you on a private sailboat. Spend quality time with your group on the deck before setting sail for Napoleon’s enchanting Elba Island. You’ll spend the night aboard the sailboat, serenaded by the soothing breeze and gentle waves.

    • Wake up to the captivating ridges and rocky formations emerging from the crystalline turquoise waters. After a flavorful breakfast on the sailboat, get ready to take in the diverse landscape and vegetation as you pedal through lush forests and rocky ridgelines to the beach. How about ending the day with a well-deserved gelato at the port, followed by a feast of seafood? After an authentic Italian dinner, go back to your sailboat to recharge for tomorrow.

    • Following breakfast, it’s time for your final ride. As your unforgettable journey draws to a close, explore the trails along Elba’s picturesque northern ridges and coastline before sailing back to Piombino. Let the Mediterranean scenery leave a lasting impression on your memory as you enjoy one last hearty meal. Upon arriving in Piombino, bid farewell to your guide and fellow riders. You can either head to the airport or return to your lodging in Piombino. This evening or the next day, it’s time to say goodbye to Tuscany—or continue touring on your own.

      You have the option to rent an e-mountain bike and helmet for an additional fee of $455 or $570. Additionally, single rooms are available at the same rate of $455 for the 5-day tour.

    • To participate in these guided e-MTB trips in Tuscany, a solid level of fitness is essential. It’s advisable for participants to maintain a regular workout routine, consisting of 2 to 3 sessions per week, each lasting at least 30 minutes, and be comfortable with high-intensity intervals. Be prepared for daily rides lasting between 4 to 6 hours, spread over 5/7 consecutive days, with occasional challenging terrain.

      Rest assured, your experienced guide will be there to assess your abilities, offer guidance, and provide encouragement throughout the adventure. Additionally, you have the flexibility to customize your e-bike experience since you’ll have two available batteries per day. In the rare event of fatigue, a logistics team is ready to offer assistance and transportation to your next destination. To prepare adequately, continue your fitness regimen, emphasizing cardiovascular endurance and strength training.

    • Having prior mountain biking experience is crucial to participate in this guided e-MTB tour in Tuscany. Participants should ideally boast a solid two or more years of mountain biking experience, a foundation that instills confidence in navigating gentle singletrack trails, conquering rocky terrain, and effortlessly maneuvering steep, flowing singletrack trails. It is expected to cover up to 25 miles (40 km) a day, with elevation gains (and losses) of up to 3,937 ft (1,200 m).

      Note that distances can be shortened and increased depending on the desires and the abilities of participants. You should also be comfortable riding on slightly exposed paths, understand your own limits, and know when to dismount and walk through challenging sections. To prepare, consider increasing your riding frequency in the weeks leading up to the trip, and perhaps even opting for a lesson.

      Your seasoned guide will always be on hand to offer expert advice and refine your riding style during the journey. Rest assured, regardless of your experience level, your safety and comfort will remain paramount. Should you ever feel unwell or choose not to continue riding, a follow-up vehicle is readily available to transport you to the evening’s accommodation for well-deserved rest and recovery.

    • All essential MTB equipment will be provided by your guide if you rent their e-mountain bike. If you wish to bring your own bike, here’s what you’ll need:

        • E-mountain bike
        • Bike-specific brake pads (x2 sets)
        • Everything you need for repairs if you use tubeless tyres
        • Tyre repair kit, inner tubes, and a small pump
        • Chain specific “quick link”
        • Additional derailleur hanger
        • Spare parts (if your bike contains unique parts)
        • Extra battery for the bike
        • The key for your e-bike
        • Battery charger

      Here’s the list of personal clothes/items you’ll need:

        • Daypack with a waterproof cover (20L capacity)
        • MTB shoes (hiking shoes can also work)
        • Bike gloves and regular warm gloves
        • Cycling sunglasses
        • Knee and elbow pads — optional
        • Sun hat
        • Hydration system (Camelback is ideal)
        • Biking shorts (at least 2 pairs)

      In May and June, both Tuscany and the island of Elba experience delightful spring weather. In Tuscany, temperatures range from approximately 16°C to 26°C (61°F to 79°F), offering pleasant, balmy days for outdoor activities. The island of Elba shares a similar climate, with temperatures typically ranging from 15°C to 21°C (59°F to 70°F). In September and October, the conditions are similar.       We advise that you check the forecast before departure and adjust your packing list accordingly, there is always a chance for occasional rainy and windy days.

    • During the Tuscany e-MTB and sailing adventure, you will enjoy a delightful culinary experience. The price includes meals, covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You’ll savor authentic regional cuisine, including dining at top restaurants. Please note that lunch may vary between restaurant meals and picnics, offering a diverse experience. Additionally, the package includes snacks and wine tastings. However, it’s important to note that the price does not cover other drinks, such as alcoholic beverages, coffee, or gelato stops outside of the planned meals and snacks.

      As for accommodations, your base camp will be at Torre di Baratti, which is also a nature reserve. For your sailing adventure, there are two dorm-style rooms, two bathrooms, and a fully equipped small kitchen on board the sailboat, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay throughout your journey. If you have any food restrictions or preferences, the guide can easily accommodate them; simply leave a note when booking.

    • Group sizes and prices:

        • The group size for this group tour is usually 5 people with one guide, but the number also depends on the skill level of the group.
        • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate, while the maximum number of participants is 10.
        • The cost does not decrease as the group grows.

      E-mountain biking in Tuscany can be arranged for larger and for private groups. Contact us prior to booking.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Children as young as 14 are able to go on trips. That said, if you have a young rider in your group strong enough to handle sustained climbs (either riding or walking their bike) of hundreds of feet, and rough terrain, then they can participate.

      If your group has riders under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • To get to Piombino, the starting point of the 5-day tour, most people fly into Florence Airport or Pisa Airport. From there, you can first reach the train station in the city of arrival and board a train to Piombino.

      To get to Rome, the starting point of the 7-day tour, most people fly into Rome–Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino International Airport. From there, you can easily take a train ride to the city center.

      Most people arrive the day before the tour starts (Day 0). Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, your guide will suggest the best time and place to meet in the morning of Day 1, either in Piombino or in Rome.

    • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with both emergency medical and travel insurance. With medical insurance, if you have an accident or medical emergency on or off the trails, you’ll avoid paying out of pocket for costly expenses. This covers everything from hospital treatments to emergency air transportation and more.

      Travel insurance covers canceled flights, natural disasters and other scenarios that may interrupt your travel plans.

      We also expect you to respect local regulations and take measures to protect yourselves, your guides, and the communities you’re traveling to.
