Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

  • Enjoy 6 days of exploring the picturesque Icelandic highlands in this private tour. Gather some co-workers, friends, or family and make your way to the Laugavegur trail—one of the “20 Best Hikes in the World” by National Geographic—for a hiking adventure you’ll never forget. Walk wild trails, traverse glacial rivers, explore majestic canyons and bathe in Iceland’s signature natural pools. And when it’s time to take a break, treat yourself to some yoga! Your experienced and local women guides will make sure you experience Iceland’s wild nature in the best possible way!

    • After meeting your guide, you’ll take the public bus from BSI bus terminal that during the summer months drives the mountain tracks that lead to Landmannalaugar. As you pass by the Hekla volcano and other volcanoes in the Dómadalur area, you’ll reach Landmannalaugar by noon. After lunch, head south into the mountains. The trail takes us past small gorges, steaming hot springs and yellow mountain ridges. In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the Hrafntinnusker mountain hut, where you will stay the night.

The scenery on the Fimmvörðuháls Pass is absolutely stunning. After arriving back at the huts in Þórsmörk, top off this amazing adventure with a barbecue!

        • Anything not mentioned in the “Included” section above
        • Insurance — recommended, available to add at checkout
        • Guide gratuities — optional
    • Great fitness is required, and prior multi-day hiking experience is recommended. You have a choice between a Classic Tour and a Challenging Tour—both of them are women-only, both require great fitness, but the challenging is a bit more difficult.

      Classic Laugavegur hiking tour:

        • Hiking 4-8 hours a day for 6 consecutive days while carrying a daypack full of gear.
        • Covering a total of 75 km (47 mi).
        • Covering 6-17 km (3.7-10.5 mi) per day.
        • Gaining up to 490 m (1,610 ft) of elevation gain per day.

      Challenging Laugavegur hiking tour:

        • Hiking 3-9 hours a day for 6 consecutive days while carrying a daypack full of gear.
        • Covering a total of 81 km (50 mi).
        • Covering 5-24 km (3.1-15 mi).
        • Gaining up to 470 m (1,540 ft) of elevation gain per day.
    • This trip works for women who want a real multi-day trek across one of Iceland’s best-known trails, led entirely by female guides, in a group built specifically for that dynamic. You can choose the Classic route for a steadier daily pace or the Challenging route for longer, harder days—both cover the same trail and huts, just at different intensities.

This is a strong match if:

        • You want structured multi-day hiking (4–9 hours a day, real elevation) with prior multi-day experience, whether you’re in your 20s or well past 50—fitness matters more than age on this trip
        • You’re traveling solo and want a group that’s built around camaraderie by design, not an afterthought—shared huts and a pre-trip WhatsApp group mean you’re not hiking into a group of strangers
        • You want a guide team with real, varied credentials—a Wilderness First Responder and Search & Rescue volunteer, mountain-guide training from the Association of Icelandic Mountain Guides, a physical therapist and trail running coach among them
        • You’re comfortable with hut-to-hut mountain accommodation—shared dormitory rooms, no power outlets, showers as a paid extra at most stops

Both the Classic and Challenging routes run the same 6 days and hut network, so the choice comes down to how much daily distance and elevation you want to take on.

    • The trails are not paved, but in some places, paths have formed. Some trails are rocky but are easily accessible to anyone used to hiking in uneven terrain. Participants will need to hike up and down steep slopes that sometimes have loose grounds and require good balance. Muddy areas and volcanic landscapes are also to be expected.

Hikes will involve river crossings on the trail every day except the first. The water level in the rivers changes from time to time due to seasonal conditions. In some cases, you will be able to step from stone to stone to get to the other side. In other cases, you will need to take your shoes and socks off, put on river-crossing shoes and wade the rivers. Neoprene socks and sandals or neoprene shoes (beach shoes) are the best choice. Your guide will provide you with advice for river crossing, as well as help you to cross the river. Trekking poles might come in handy when wading rivers, as well as crossing with a partner.

    • Clothing, footwear, and things to carry in your backpack (large enough to carry all the items listed below):

        • Waterproof cover for your daypack
        • Waterproof hiking boots (with padded ankle and good arch support, well broken in, suitable for rocky terrain)
        • Waterproof jacket & waterproof pants
        • Hiking pants or leggings
        • Base layer — thermal top or t-shirt (merino wool, polyester, silk)
        • Mid layer — breathable that retains body heat (wool, goose down, fleece)
        • Buff or face covering
        • Warm hat
        • Hiking socks
        • Gaiters (optional for those hiking in June month)
        • Sunhat
        • Waterproof gloves or mittens
        • Breathable & waterproof jacket and waterproof pants (no plastic ponchos)
        • Sunglasses
        • Water bottle or water bladder
        • Sunscreen
        • River crossing shoes
        • Fresh food and snacks (provided by guides every day)
        • Extra fleece sweater or down jacket to put on when we stop for breaks
        • Hand sanitizer
        • Hiking poles (optional)
        • Camera (optional)

      In your luggage:

        • Sleeping bag (doesn’t have to be in your luggage, just attached to it somehow)
        • Travel pillow (optional)
        • Underwear and socks
        • Extra clothes for the trail
        • Extra clothes for the huts
        • Medicine
        • Hygiene and beauty products
        • Towel
        • Headlamp or a flashlight (for those doing the hike in August – September)
        • Powerbank to charge your devices
        • Earplugs and a sleeping mask
        • Swimsuit (if hot pools or pools are part of the itinerary)
        • Cash or a debit/credit card

Your main luggage will be transported by transport vehicle, and you will not have access to it until you reach the huts in the afternoon. This also includes your sleeping bag. Everything needed for the day’s trek must be in your daypack.

You are allowed to take one piece of luggage on the tour. Your guide advises you not to bring a massive one, as the huts don’t have much room to spread out our stuff. There are luggage lockers at four centrally located places in Reykjavik where you can store your extra luggage.

For your own well-being and safety, we strongly suggest following the advice of this equipment list. This includes having good quality rain gear, tops, and bottoms. Cotton clothing is not appropriate for any strenuous outdoor activity—nor are jeans and cotton t-shirts. Modern outdoor clothing is by far more comfortable and will greatly improve your experience.

    • A women-only tour is designed to create a supportive, respectful, and empowering space for women to travel together. These departures are open to women, including transgender women, and are intentionally hosted without men. The focus is on a women-centred group dynamic, where everyone is expected to show consideration and respect for one another. This approach reflects our values and the way these trips are thoughtfully designed and guided.

    • Group sizes and prices:

        • For this adventure, the max client-to-guide ratio is 12:1.
        • It takes a minimum of 8 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 12 participants.

Hiking in Laugavegur can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

      Min. age requirements:

        • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
        • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

    • A single occupancy room is not available as you’ll be sleeping in mountain huts which feature dormitory-style rooms.

    • Yes, and it’s a common way people book this trip—you don’t need to arrive with a hiking partner. That said, single-occupancy accommodation isn’t available: huts are shared dormitory-style, and most groups end up in one large communal room together, which is part of what makes this a natural fit for solo travelers looking for built-in group camaraderie rather than private space.

    • To get to Iceland, most people fly into Keflavík International Airport (KEF), located 45 minutes from downtown Reykjavik. From there, the best and the cheapest way is to take one of the public busses like Airport Direct or Flybus. Buses leave 35-40 minutes after the arrival of each flight, 24/7.

You will most likely meet your guide at the BSÍ bus terminal in Reykjavík at 6:45am.

    • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with insurance. To make your booking and traveling experience as carefree as possible, you’ll be offered to simply insure your trip with Redpoint at checkout.

Redpoint—the official 57hours insurance partner—tailors protection packages for adventure travel, offering a comprehensive travel program, even in remote locations! Trip cancellation, natural disasters, pandemic coverage, medical evacuation, primary medical expenses—regardless of the travel interruption that may happen, Redpoint will have you covered.
