57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.
We also expect clients to respect local regulations and take measures to protect themselves, their guides, and the communities they’re traveling to. For more information on COVID-19 measures in the Grand Canyon, refer to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s requirements for air travel to the US and Grand Canyon National Park public health update.
Please contact us if you have any questions or require further information. We are happy to provide you with the most up-to-date information!
What you get on this adventure:
What’s not included:
To participate in these adventures, strong fitness levels and some hiking experience are required. It’s also important to note that doing these tours between May and September may require hiking in 105+°F (40°C) temperatures.
For the 2-day and 3-day custom backpacking adventure in the Grand Canyon, you have to be comfortable covering up to 9.5 miles (15 km) a day with extreme elevation changes (over 4,000 ft / 1,220 m) on good, maintained trails. Other than that, you’ll be carrying your backpack. Although these tours are generally less strenuous than the longer tour below, it is only because of the shorter duration.
For the Grandview Trek backpacking tour, you will be hiking up to 6-10 hours a day for 5 days, with significant daily elevation changes. Be prepared for periods of steep hiking, all the while carrying your 35-45 lbs (15-20 kg) backpack, with moderate to significant exposure, and at times loose surfaces that require attention and careful footing. This hike isn’t recommended for anyone who dislikes heights and extreme drop-offs.
Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:
