Meet your guide at 8 am for final checks before taking the 9 am ferry from Ísafjörður to Hesteyri, once the largest settlement in Hornstrandir. After loading our kayaks and a safety briefing, we either paddle along the coast toward the Slétta lighthouse or explore the remains of an old Norwegian whaling station. Once warmed up and rested on the beach, we cross the fjord toward the historic farmhouse of Kvíar, our base for the trip, keeping an eye out for white-tailed eagles along the cliffs. After lunch, we continue across Veiðileysufjörður, take a short shoreline break, and make our final push toward Kvíar, passing waterfalls and lush vegetation. Upon arrival, we settle into the house, enjoy the sauna, and end the day with a well-earned dinner and good night’s sleep.
