How fit do I need to be?

In order to join these kitesurfing camps in the Mediterranean, you need to be an intermediate or advanced kitesurfer. You are expected to be able to ride upwind consistently in every wind condition, control the kite on the land, body drag upwind, relaunch the kite from water, body drag to their lost board, and self-land the kite with chicken loop quick release.

What will I learn during the camp?

During the week of sailing and kitesrufing, you will learn: IKO safety standards and procedures Different techniques on how to launch and land from a sailing boat How to define a spot to be suitable for anchoring the boat and kiting from the boat Self-launching, Self-landing, Self-rescue Safety procedures to manage unconventional spots like onshore, offshore, and tiny beaches How to plan and run a kite-downwind in open sea Safety procedures to rescue a kiter by the sailing boat in open sea Effective upwind body drag in very low or strong wind

What if I’ve never kitesurfed before?

These camps are ideal for intermediate and advanced kitesurfers but o ne beginner per group can join as well. Lessons for beginners are carried out by IKO instructors and the student is assisted and followed by a tender (safety boat) with radio communication. The lessons last for a maximum of 1h per day. More lessons for beginners are possible in case of groups of kiters requesting a camp with the entire catamaran. If you have a beginner in your team, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements. Additional beginner, intermediate, advanced and foil lessons cost €100 per hour, while wing beginner lessons are set at €80.

What do I need to bring?

The complete kite gear set (kite set, bar, twintip board, and harness) can be rented from your guiding service for an additional fee on request and is available only for experienced kiters. Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring: Day pack large enough to carry all the items listed Water bottle Clothing for 7 days Wetsuit (long, 3 or 4 mm wetsuit recommended for colder days) Booties Food you can eat on-the-go Toiletries (sunscreen, bug spray, toilet paper, etc.) Sunglasses Swimsuits Towels Sweater Camera — optional Wetsuit and booties can be rented for an additional fee. Let us know if you need this gear as it is mandatory equipment for the camp.

Can I rent equipment?

You can rent complete gear (kite set, bar, twin-tip board, harness) from your guide for €500 for the duration of the camp. You can also rent separate equipment: Complete wing gear (wing + board) for €400 / camp Complete wing gear (wing + board) for €100 / day Twintip board for €150 / camp Surfboard for €250 / camp Foil board for €300 / camp Kite set for €350 / camp One kite size for €200 / camp One kite size for €50 / day Gear is available only for experienced kiters. Damages or loss will be charged (reparation costs + devalue). Gear insurance is available on request, but it does not cover loss of the gear. What’s the catamaran like?

If you’re heading to Greece, you’ll be aboard a Lagoon 500 Flybridge . This 50-foot catamaran houses 9 kite surfers and 3 crew members, who will take care of the outings and meals. The Lagoon 500 Mystique features a spacious deck as well as a comfortable hang-out spot with big windows so you’re never turned away from the turquoise sea. 15.5 m Sailing Catamaran, built 2009, fully refitted 2018 4 Double Cabins + 1 Single Cabin for Kiters 1 Double Cabin + 1 Single Cabin for Crew 5 Toilets with showers Fly Bridge Inverter, Auxiliary Generator If you’re cruising the waters of North Sardinia and South Corsica, your home for the week will be the Nautitech 46 Fly, a 46-foot long catamaran . What are the cabins like?

You have a choice between two tyoes if cabins: the small single one and the double cabin. The double cabins are cozy with enough space for two people and an ensuite bathroom. As for the single cabin, keep in mind that it’s well-ventilated with 2 windows, but it doesn’t have much storage space nor a private bathroom. Regarding the storage space, you’ll keep some of your things in your cabin as well as in the living area. There’s also no floor space—when you enter, you will step in directly onto the mattress. The rate is based on sharing the double cabin , but there’s also an option of being by yourself in the single or the double cabin. You can tell us your preferences upon booking.

Group sizes and age requirements

Group sizes and prices: For these kitesurfing adventures, the maximum group size is 7. The cost does not decrease as the group grows. Kitesurfing in the Mediterranean can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements. Min. age requirements: If you are older than 18, you’re good to go. While there is not necessarily a minimum age to kiteboard, there are minimum requirements, such as height and weight. Prior to booking, let us know the youngest ages in your party and we will let you know if it’s safe for them to get on the water. If your group has hikers under the age of 18 , contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

Deposits and cancellation policy

A 50% deposit to secure your place is due upon booking. The remaining amount is paid 3 months (90 days) prior to departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies. If Client cancels the Booking anytime prior to one hundred twenty (120) calendar days in advance of the trip contemplated by the booking, Client is entitled to a refund in the amount of ninety (90%) of the total amount paid when booking. For cancellations sixty (60) to one hundred nineteen (119) calendar days in advance, Client is entitled to a refund in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the total amount paid when Booking. After that deadline, Client is not entitled to any refund. Any reimbursable expenses arising out of the Booking incurred by Guide prior to the date of cancellation (including but not limited to plane tickets, car rental payments, and lodging or transportation fees) are non-refundable as soon as they are incurred by the Guide. If Client has to cancel, Guide will try to find a substitute member to join the tour and will provide a partial refund voucher. The amount of the voucher is established by the Guide. However, if Guide is unable to find a substitute kiter, no voucher will be given. Secure your spot for the following season with a 10% deposit! This tour gets sold out very quickly, but with early-bird booking, you’ll be the first one to know. Pick the month that suits you best and we’ll let you know once the dates are live—don’t risk missing out on your bucket list adventure! Only 10% of the total amount should be paid as a deposit upon booking. This deposit is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another 57hours adventure anytime in case the dates don’t suit you. Once the set dates for the following season are live, you can confirm your booking by the end of this year by paying another 20% of the total amount. The final balance is due 3 months ( 90 days) prior to departure. Once the trip has been confirmed, the regular cancellation policy applies.

Best way to get to Sardinia

If you’re heading to the Sardinia kitesurfing adventure, you need to get to Cannigione. To get to Cannigione, Olbia in Sardinia, most people fly into Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) , about 35 minutes away from Cannigione. From there, you can rent a car, take a bus or taxi to get to the marina. The catamaran will depart from Cannigione after the first briefing and when you check in at 9.30 am. On the last day, you’ll check out between 9 and 10 am, and the catamaran will arrive in the marina either the evening before the last day or the morning of the last day.

Best way to get to the Cyclades

To get to your Greek meeting point on Paros Island, Parikia Marina, most people fly into Paros National Airpot (PAS) 15 minutes away from Parikia Marina. From there, you can rent a car or take a taxi to get to Parikia Marina. Other options include flying into Mykonos-Manto Mavrogenous Airport (JMK) and then taking a 1-hour ferry from Mykonos harbor to Parikia. Check in is at 6 pm on the first day and the catamaran will depart from the Parikia Marina the next morning. On the last day, you’ll check out between 9 and 10 am. The catamaran will arrive in the marina either the evening before the last day or the morning of the last day.

What is the Assistance Plus package?

This package is available on request for independent riders who need help to start from the onshore beaches or to come back to the offshore beaches or want to feel safer during days with challenging conditions or in technical spots. Assistance plus consists of 3 lifts per day.

Do I need an insurance policy?

We highly recommended that you cover all your bases with both emergency medical and travel insurance. With medical insurance, if you have an accident or medical emergency on or off the mountain, you’ll avoid paying out of pocket for costly expenses. This covers everything from hospital treatments to emergency air transportation and more. As we’ve recently seen, travel plans can be abruptly halted, so it’s a good idea to purchase travel insurance that covers cancelled flights, natural disasters and other scenarios that may interrupt your travel plans. For peace of mind, we suggest you consider both options of insurance. If you need assistance selecting the right insurance for your group, let us know and we will be happy to help!

What about the weather?

The ideal time to go kitesurfing in the Mediterranean is spring and autumn. If you’re heading to Sardinia, the mistral wind is the dominant one in the area, blowing from the northwest with an intensity between 15 and 35 knots. Mistral is strong and reliable, providing endless days of kitesurfing opportunities. If mistral is off, east and southeast winds will step up and open up other secret spots. A 3-4 mm wetsuit is advised for colder days. Greece, on the other hand, has the meltemi winds blowing from the north with an intensity between 12 and 30 knots. A long, 2-3 mm wetsuit is recommended for strong meltemi days.

Meet your guides

The Action Cruise organizes various kite and sail camps in unconventional and hidden spots around the globe. They teach their clients IKO safety procedures and basics of sailing navigation, as well as how to kite through open sea passages. In order to maximize the kiting activity and safety on board, their clients are usually accompanied by three crew members.

Federico decided to follow his passion for sailing, kiting, and traveling. He’s been sailing ever since he was a kid and has been an IKO Kite Instructor for years. When he’s not sailing, he likes to spend his time climbing, running, and freeride skiing in the Alps.

Davide has been passionate about the ocean since he was a child, which led him to get a degree in nautical science. He has a FIV Sailing Instructor certificate and is a kite assistant who’s been teaching in Centro Velico Caprera-Sardegna for 5 years.

Jurgita is an IKO kite instructor who loves kiting, traveling, and sailing. When she’s not on board, she loves to go wakeboarding and snowboarding.

Amazing crew, spectacular spots (wave/flat/no one else in the water, incredible colors), awesome atmosphere, great boat, great food.. it’s such an experience. Great professionalism mixed with great people. It’s a tightly-run ship, Fede and Giulio know what they’re doing. I felt very safe kiting & sailing, including in rough sea.
