Maybe ‘traditional’ safaris aren’t for you. Try a ski safari! Come powder ski the mystical and magical forests of Japan in January 2019 and start the new year right! With an annual snowfall of over 11 meters, you can count on plenty of POWder for your entire tour.

Explore guided powder skiing in Japan

There’s deep powder, supernatural forests, high ridges and breathtaking summits all for the taking! Hakuba has some of the finest powder skiing in the world, all of which is easily accessible. The skiing is outstanding. So is the culture. Come discover both.

The defining features of Japanese skiing are the forested areas: it’s nothing like you’ve ever skied before. Floating through open, deciduous trees is truly beautiful and out of this world. You’ll also find open alpine terrain at higher elevations.

Depending on the weather, skiers can experience up to 15-50cm of cold blower pow everyday!

  • You need to have done some previous ski touring and be able to ski powder in the trees.
  • If you have backcountry ski experience and are comfortable with black diamond runs you will enjoy this trip!
Getting there
  • Hakuba is on the island of Honshu. It is a 3 to 5 hour journey from Tokyo via train, bus, or airport shuttle
