There's a ton of ski touring to be found in Slovenia. With multiple runs of approximately 1000m, all within an hour's drive from Kranjska Gora, there's a run for every one and every skill level - even in not so good weather! Take advantage of expert, local  guides and rest assured that you'll ski some beautiful lines in perfect powder.


Welcome to the Julian Alps!

Your home base for the program will be the ski resort Kranjska Gora. There you’ll stay in one of the many wonderful 3 or 4 star family run hotels and enjoy Slovenian hospitality after your daily tours of the backcountry. There’s great skiing for everyone with this program!

Here’s a few of the places you’ll be skiing

Pod Kriško Steno

  • Height difference: 1000 meters
  • Climbing time: 3 hours
  • Skiing time: 1 hour
  • Skill Level: Intermediate
  • This is considered one of the best ski tours in Slovenia. It’s also one of the most popular. Plus you can usually count on finding great powder here

Kotovo Sedlo

  • Height difference: 1360 meters
  • Climbing time: 4 hours
  • Skiing time: 1.5 hours
  • Skill Level: Intermediate

Plazje

  • Height difference: 1400 meters
  • Climbing time: 4.5 hours
  • Skiing time: 1.5 hours
  • Level: Hard
  • Descents get close to 40°. Also, this one’s in Italy! There’s perfect views and great skiing.

Triglavski dom Kredarica

  • Height difference: 1640 meters
  • Climbing time: 5 hours
  • Skiing time: 1.5 hours
  • Level: Intermediate
  • This is the highest hut in Slovenia, situated just below Slovenia’s highest peak, Triglav. And it’s open during the winter!

Vogel-Komna

  • Height difference: 1000 meters
  • Climbing time: 6 hours
  • Level: Intermediate
  • Here we’ll start the tour with a cablecar to Vogel, before going off-piste towards the Komna high plateau

Dovška Baba

  • Height difference: 400-1000 meters (depending on the snow conditions)
  • Climbing time: 2-4 hours
  • Skiing time: 1-2 hours
  • Level: Easy
  • This is one of the safest ski tours during bad conditions

Begunjščica

  • Height difference: 1000 meters
  • Climbing time: 3 hours
  • Skiing time: 1,5 hour
  • Level: Hard
  • This is also considered one of the best ski tours in Slovenia. The top slopes are a bracing 35°

Velika Mojstrovka

  • Height difference: 1000 meter
  • Climbing time: 3 hours
  • Skiing time: 1.5 hours
  • Level: Intermediate
  • When the road to Vršič is open, this is another very popular tour with many options

Vošca

  • Height difference: 750 meters
  • Climbing time: 2.5 hours
  • Skiing time: 1 hour
  • Level: Easy
  • This is another excellent, safe tour in bad weather conditions

Guides running this program

Mitja Šorn

Mitija was born in Jesenice, Slovenia. He’s a UIAGM mountain guide, ski instructor and sports teacher and the current president of the Slovenian Mountain Guide Association.

He’s still the only guide who can make a living working exclusively in Slovenia! Mitja climbs Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means he’s have climbed the most famous peak in his country over 200 times.

If you want to climb or ski in Slovenian mountains he’s the perfect choice for you. He guides via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, heliski, freeride skiing and ski touring.

Slovenia has excellent options for all of these activities, so take a look at his trips and find something for yourself.
