  • This four-day hut-to-hut circuit takes us around the Petit and Grand Muveran, two of the more distinctive peaks in the Swiss Alps, on trails that stay well clear of the region's crowds. Starting and ending at Jorasse, above Ovronnaz, we spend three nights in mountain huts, each with its own character; one is a working farm, another a cozy auberge, the last a refuge with sweeping views toward Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva. Along the way, we cross open pastures, climb rocky passes, and cover some of the Alps' more overlooked terrain. A certified guide leads throughout, with breakfast, dinner, and packed lunches included every day.

    • We kick things off by taking the cable car to Jorasse, where alpine pastures open up around us and the mountain feels all yours. The trail makes a steady climb then winds across rugged landscape around the Muverans massif. Wildflowers, cowbells, and big mountain views set the scene. By late afternoon, we reach Gîte de l’Alpage de Dorbon, a working farm where your bunk is ready and dinner is homegrown. Shared stories, mountain air, and a real sense of arrival cap our first day.

      Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner
      Distance: 12 km (7.5 mi)
      Elevation: +964 m (+3,163 ft) / -947 m (-3,107 ft)

    • After a farm breakfast, we head deeper into quiet alpine terrain. The day is long and varied—expect forests, open ridgelines, and steadily changing views. Our route dips and rolls before a big descent towards Pont de Nant. By evening, we arrive at the Auberge de Pont de Nant, a rustic favorite tucked into a valley known for its wildflowers. Feet up, pack off, and time to relax—this is how you settle into hut-to-hut rhythm.

      Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner
      Distance: 17 km (10.5 mi)
      Elevation: +840 m (+2,756 ft) / -1,543 m (-5,062 ft)
Accommodation: Auberge de Pont de Nant (shared dormitory)

Dorbon to Pont de Nant — Hiking in Ovronnaz | Switzerland
    • A big ascent kicks off our day as we leave the valley floor and climb towards the high peaks. The trail is steady but spectacular, with the Petit and Grand Muveran coming into full focus. Alpine crossings reward us with sweeping southern views—on a clear morning you can spot Mont Blanc and even down to Lake Geneva. We end at Cabane de la Tourche, a modern hut perched above the valley, where the sunset is something you’ll remember.

      Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner
      Distance: 10.5 km (6.5 mi)
      Elevation: +1,490 m (+4,888 ft) / -561 m (-1,841 ft)

    • After a final mountain breakfast, we start our descent along a narrow trail with a few short protected sections. The scenery here is wild, with huge valleys dropping away and a real sense of crossing big country. After looping back to Jorasse, there’s a moment to celebrate—you’ve completed the Tour des Muverans circuit. If you want, it’s just a quick transfer to the thermal baths at Lavey-les-Bains; a well-earned soak after days on the move.
