  • Choose this option to ride from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. Other than the direction, the locations and inclusions are identical to the Dubrovnik–Zagreb tour.

This 9-day off-road motorcycle tour is built for riders who want more than just miles. We ride a mix of gravel, mountain tracks, and quiet roads, guided by locals who know where the riding flows and where it’s worth stopping. Everything is taken care of—routes, stays, meals—so you can focus on the ride, the landscapes, and the food waiting at the end of the day.

    • We begin in Croatia’s capital and quickly leave the city behind, riding forest and gravel roads through the lush landscapes of Gorski Kotar. As the terrain opens up, we cross into the Istrian Peninsula, a region known for vineyards, truffles, and rolling hills. The ride sets the tone for the journey ahead, blending scenic backroads with quiet countryside. We arrive in Buzet, our base for exploring Istria, and settle into a charming family-run lodge where homemade cuisine, local beer, and wine round out the day.

      Distance: ~250 km (150 mi)
      Meals: Lunch, dinner

We pass through Grožnjan, the region’s famed artists’ hill town, and continue toward the dramatic Limski Canal. The ride balances coastal scenery with inland charm before reaching Rovinj, one of Istria’s most beautiful seaside towns. In the evening, we stroll its stone streets and enjoy fresh local seafood before returning to Buzet.

    • Leaving the Adriatic hills behind, we ride back into continental Croatia, combining fast gravel, winding tarmac, and sweeping views over the islands. Green valleys and rivers guide us toward the Plitvice Lakes area, home to one of Croatia’s most iconic natural sites. Along the way, we visit Željava, a hidden Cold War–era underground airbase that we can ride into. In the afternoon, there’s time for an optional walk through Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    • We ride deep into the wild heart of Croatia, following forest and dirt roads through the dramatic landscapes of Velebit National Park. Remote and panoramic, today’s route delivers pure off-road riding. Descending from the Velebit ridges, the scenery shifts again as we approach the striking Zrmanja Canyon, where red cliffs and winding tracks create a landscape that feels almost cinematic. The day ends near Knin, with local mountain cuisine rounding out the experience.

    • Because Croatia offers an incredible mix of terrain in a country that’s still remarkably uncrowded for off-road riding. You can cross forests, mountains, national parks, islands, and coastline—riding through places like Gorski Kotar, Istria, Plitvice Lakes, Velebit, Dinara, Hvar, Pelješac, and all the way to Dubrovnik—often without seeing another rider.

Unlike well-known off-road hotspots in Spain, Portugal, or France, Croatia is still flying under the radar. The trails are there, the variety is unmatched, and the sense of discovery is very real. It feels like one of those places you’re lucky to experience before everyone else catches on—a country best enjoyed the long way, while it’s still quiet.
